Well, my problem is most likely a VERY simple one, but still, since I know just enough about computers to be dangerous....I will ask it anyway, just in case someone out there is as uninformed as I am....
I need step by step instructions,   Unfortunatly that means I need things about V 0.7.3   NOT V.7.0, 7.1, or 7.1.1.

I want to Mod my tanks game, I may or may not use the mods for long, but still, since I have read and read the info on here, and tried several times to make the Mods work even though most if not all are set up for V 0.7.1 - V 0.7.1.1,    I really would like a bit of help.

There are just so many differences between what is in V 0.7.0- V 0.7.1.1, and V 0.7.2, that it is hard for me to take the info here and translate it to MY Mods/Game... My Game is V 0.7.3

The first one I would like more info on is XVM... I did all I could see was required and it don't work...  Am I stupid, or does V 0.7.3 change something?

I have D\Led XVM-full-2.3.1, XVM-lite-2.3.1, as well as WoTSkins_V28_Kontur_100(1) and (2)  These last 2 are are from the Russian Site, and I may speak a bit of Russian, but I can't read a bit of it, so there MAY have been perfect instructions on that site, but I couldn't tell.

Any help would be appreciated...

Kurt

XVM and most mods are usually pre-packed into the proper folders.

just extract them into the proper folder.

also

before 7.1.1, it was worldoftanks\res\

now that "\res\" folder is now the worldoftanks\res_mods\0.7.x\

treat the res_mods\0.7.x\ as the usual \res\ folder and you will be fine.

what program are you using to open it?

winrar and 7zip can open them

also, DO NOT MODIFY THE FILES INSIDE THE PACKAGES FOLDER.

and instead of <worldoftanks>\res\ as your mod storage, it's now <worldoftanks>\res_mods\0.7.x\

Re:

I must be an idiot.  I have read J1mbo's instructions, and yours, and I still cannot figure out what to do.

I downloaded the file.  I cannot figure out the instructions:

Quote

Installation - Crosshair:
- Copy the "0.7.4" folder to:
"\World of Tanks\res_mods"

- Copy the "CROSSHAIR_PANEL_STRATEGIC.SWF" you like from "arty-mode\version\type" folder to:
"\World of Tanks\res_mods\0.7.4\gui\flash"

Installation - Settings:
- Make a backup of "settings.mo" in:
"\World of Tanks\res\text\LC_MESSAGES"

- Copy the "res" folder to:
"\World of Tanks"

When I open the path, " ...mods\J1mB0s Crosshair Mod v1.15 - English settings by nepumax.zip\res\text\LC_MESSAGES"  The only file I find is "Settings.mo"

So, am I supposed to copy the "0.7.4" folder that Wargaming created (i.e. the new update) to the "res_mods" folder?  Then do I copy J1mbo's res file to overwrite the res file Wargaming created?

and where do I find the the "CROSSHAIR_PANEL_STRATEGIC.SWF" you like from "arty-mode\version\type" folder?

Help appreciated

I figured it out:

The dowload on the forum does not work.  It does not provide a complete copy of the mod - which makes the instructions useless and silly (until you realize you do not have the actual download it describes).  I got the full download from here : http://worldoftanks....1mb0s-reticles/  For all I know, I have been downloading spamware - but this one looks to be correct.

you need to make the folders if needed.

for example, skins go into:

res_mods\0.7.4\vehicles\<nation>\<vehicle>

yes of course you need to make them, i just said it in my reply.

okay basically instead of

res\vehicles\<nation>\<tank>

res is now res_mods\<version>\

so now it is

res_mods\0.7.4\vehicles\<nation>\<tank>

most mod downloads are prepacked into the correct folders.

Is there a mod out there that will work with a 64 bit system.  The dumgard/dokan will not run under a 64 bit system.  The things that dokan has on it look really good and some in my clan really like it.  I checked and they are all running 32 bit systems.
Thanks

I'm having issues with me mods for 0.7.5

1. I tried installing a voice pack onto it and it works, however, it turns off every other sound. So all I hear is talking.
2. Tried installing tank skins and that didn't work. Had same old boring tanks...
3. Hud mods seem to work but I tried installing Serverside Crosshairs: http://forum.worldof...ide-crosshairs/ and they didn't work, yet however other crosshairs install just fine

And just to clear things up, Yes I am installing latest releases of the mods, and yes I'm putting them in the Res_mods folder.

1: First remove the mod and then copy the contents of res\audio\ into res_mods\<version>\audio\. Then put in the modded files and overwrite over the stock files. It's a known issue with the sound system.

2: Make sure you have the skin files in the proper folders- make them if needed. And some if not most skin mods come pre-packed into the proper folders.

sample path: <wot>\res_mods\<version>\vehicles\<country>\<XYY_tankname>\

3: Refer to this thread. BE WARNED THAT IF YOU DC IN THE MIDDLE OF A MATCH YOU WOULD NEED TO DISABLE THE SERVERSIDE HAIR FIX SO THAT YOU CAN RETURN TO THE MATCH.
