Had a great time at this event.  Hats off to the coordination and management efforts - much more than I think most of us expected!

Shout outs to those I met and had great rants with:

Sandar
Whatufaka (I know, I chastised him for this name!)
Ketara
Bread14

Should be available as an internet stream in a while unless some disaster has befallen.

Amazing event.  Simply amazing.

Here is the panel at work!  I have so many books by these guys.

Mk 2 discussing the MVTF's Panther with Steven Zaloga and another noted author of tank books, Michael Green.

Talking with these guys ... meeting such celebrities* as Harry Yeide or David Fletcher!  Hours of expert tank talk, followed by tanks.  Sigh. What is there left in this world to aspire to?

-Mark 2

*Well maybe they don't qualify as celebrities to my wife, but to this history-fan-boy they certainly do!  For example I have followed Zaloga's writings since finding an article he wrote on the KV-85 in AFV News in ... 1975!

I had a great time, the panel was interesting and it was nice to be able to put faces to some of the names I see in game and on the forums.

Has the Chieftain's original nationality now been revealed then? :)

Probably not. People jump to the weirdest conclusions.

Didn't you say you were Greek (at at least part of your family)?

I do not recall making any such statement. (Really, I don't!)

Well, there was on that Navy article where you said your maternal grandfather served on the Monarchist side in the Greek Civil War.

I can only report on what I saw - The Chieftan leaning over to talk with David F (I swear, David shoulda had a Guiness in his hand -- he was so whitty and in this geo-centric American's view, steo-typically English, using 'rubbish' several times :D !  He made the room laugh so many times (and we were freezing!)) about British things that seemed strangely familiar to BOTH of them.

And of course, since I'm rather new to tank history, I never knew that a Chieftan was a British tank...so you learn tons of new facts.  Even drew up a digram about Chieftan's and Conquerers in response to what David and Rob threw out as their original design.

And the name "Hetzer" isn't historically accurate! Who knew? My whole WoT experience has been a LIE!  :Smile-hiding:

Hmmm. Thinking back to my readings, I can not recall any hint of a native-born-only movement among the warring factions in the GCW.

But then I get the impression he can reach that same level of familiarity with a bottle of Kentucky Bourbon whiskey!  :D

I'm really want to know what the answer to my question was? Is their anyway I can find that out or do I have to wait for the recording? :Smile-hiding:
