I only had 2GB RAM to rum WoT on Win7 Desktop. I could get about 30fps and it swapping harddisk frequently so I decided to add 2GB RAM to resolve this. What surprised me is after adding 2GB RAM I can only get 4-5fps, checked system utilization found CPU going up to almost 100%(2.13GHz COre Duo 2), before adding memory the CPU utilization kept at 50-60%, can you tell me what is happenning?

Thanks much

I'm no programmer, but one thing I learned from my boad was that it can hold 16GB ram, but was most efficiently used with 4GB sticks for 8GB total.  Anything using other slots actually slowed overall MHz, but increased storage size.  You could have issues with the sticks you bought not being 100% compatible, issues with bios, etc.  The fact your CPU is running 100% is disturbing to me, because win7 and all associated applications will take up about 1GB for basic functioning (at least that's what I have been recommended).  Sorry I can't be of more help.

That's probably cause it was running on dual channel before you add 2GB more. I'm not sure about this though. If you did not buy the exact same RAM, then that might be the cause.

If that's the cause, I would suggest returning the memory to the shop and get the EXACT same memory that you already have. It might solve your problem.

If on your POST screen, its written 'Dual Channel Interleaved,' that means its not as I described.

^^ This

It could also be that the new RAM is broken.  Check to see if the full 4GB is being shown in your Task Manager.

Drop back to 2GB - confirm that the RAM is actually related to the drop in FPS. Then swap the new for the old.

Honestly I'd be surprised if the dual channel / differing RAM thing slowed it more than the increase in RAM, particularly in the jump from 2 to 4 GB.

On the odd occasion my PC chugs back to around 12FPS for a couple of rounds, for no apparent reason, but I usually find it picks up after a couple of games. (back to the regular 30ish)

Having FPS Issues myself. If I get 22-25, thats a good day. Typically 18 is the norm-really lags.

System:     Dell XPS 410
Processor: Intel Core2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz
Memory:    2GB
OS: MS VIsta-Business SP2 32 bit
Graphics:    ATI All in Wonder HD 512mb

Have 2GB additional ram on the way for a total of 4GB - hopes this helps the lagging.

Hope Upgrade to MS 7 down the road + better GPU card will help.
Any thoughts would be helpful
