I might've been in a game with you today...I recall someone game-chatting that they're regretfully going to be selling their M8 (presumably to step up to the T49).  For now, I don't have plans to move up to the T49 because it would also involve higher tiers.

So what gun did you find the most useful?  57 or 75?  I've pretty much settled on the 75 due to high tier battles.

I'm pretty chatty in-game so it might have been me. The T49 takes some getting used to, particularly because of the poor damage output of the 76mm M1A1. It worked for me on the Jumbo because it could take a hit, but the T49 is the frailest of glass cannon.

For the M8 I tried both the 57 and 75, and really thought that I would prefer the faster RoF of the 57mm combined with the lighter weight of the first turret (the extra armor makes no difference whatsoever). However like you I found the ~30% more damage per shot of the 75 to make a critical difference, not only when fighting higher tier stuff but also when fighting same or lower tiers where the damage means exposing yourself for a third shot.

As for binos vs. camo, I think the M8 is more of a 'luring' ambusher than a sniper. Its poor base view range means that it won't get as much out of binos as the Marder, say, while a camo net will let you stay hidden longer. I'm also rarely in LoS of a target long enough for binos to be of use.

I don't have a secondary skill yet though, so maybe the camo skill mitigates the loss of equipment. Certainly a better view range can't hurt!

Interesting.  I don't know the exact numbers but let's just say that if I fire my gun, I lose my camo for, say, 5 seconds after that shot.  So if I manage fire a 2nd shot 4 seconds after the first shot, my camo will be still be restored 1 second later?
No, the timer will be reset again when you fire the second shot, but the camo penalty (ie: how much your effective camo effect is reduced by remains the same), none of the duration stack either, just refreshed, so firing the second shot 3 sec after the first for example doesn't mean a total of 7sec penalty (2sec left from first and 5sec from the 2nd shot) but still 5sec after that 2nd shot is made.

So as long as your effective camo remains higher than what the enemy can see, you are completely undetectable no matter how many shots you fire through, that's how i got mine to pulverize tanks on mannerheim line just by being on the ridge behind the bush without being shot the entire match and firing at everything that moves across it.
