Since I seem to be about the only player who doesn't like the KV-2 barn turret (everything about it is too slow for me), I'd like some advice on what's the best gun to use on the KV-1 turret. The S-54 offers reasonable penetration, but it seems inadequate compared to other 76mm guns, and the U-11's a 122mm howitzer with the associated low pen and ROF, but high damage.

Naturally, I'm also looking forward to the KV-1/KV-2 split and whatever modules the KV-1'll get to replace the ones it'll lose in the split.

If you arent using the 107 then you are wasting your time and your teams. You are just gimping yourself not using it.

well, before the HE nerf, the 122mm used to be badass.I used to use the KV in KV1 form, all with stock turret and the 122mm.
but now....................

I still drive the KV-1 with the 122mm. Might as well learn to live with the it if you decide to keep the KV-1 after the split.

^Rather have it than a tier 6 KV-2.

@jacksknightx: Here's the thing: I don't find the 107 (or 152) fun. I don't like the KV-2 turret because it slows the KV down, has extremely slow traverse, making it a pain to bring to bear (I can excuse my American TDs' slow traverse because those are meant to be used for sniping at long range, and they're STILL faster than the KV-2 turret), is a huge target, and tops it off by being hideous. Call it a waste of my time all you want, I call driving a tank that isn't fun to drive a bigger waste of my time.

Well, you don't have much choice with that KV-1 Turret anyway.

The 76mm ZiS-5 stock gun is out of the picture

The 76mm S-54, though the top gun of a T-34, will prove useless on most tanks MM will put you up against. You are now a heavy, afterall.

So go for that 122mm U-11 derp. Though inaccurate and slowly reload, it pack a punch a Soviet Heavy is supposed to have.

The KV-2 with the 107 has the equal highest number of kills in a single game for me, 9, and a Reaper of 7 in the same game.  Ensk map.  I got really mad that game for some reason, and it just didn't pay to get in front of me.  Or beside me, or in the rear of me.  No additional equipment at that time either.  I think it was a T14 I faced immediately after blowing my top, and it seemed to cower as it backed away from the KV.  Not for very long.

I tried the 122 in the KV-1 turret, but it was always a a very situational gun, just like in real life.  It either worked okay, or it didn't work at all, and usually it was the latter.

For now I'd recommend the 122mm U-11, since it pretty much guarantees you'll damage whatever you hit [within reason, of course]

After the KV-1/2 split, I'd bet that the 85mm from the T-28 will be available

I am sure that there will be an offering several different guns for it and all the others that will be split.  You will most likely have about 4 different selections to
choose from.  On the KV-1, I believe the 122MM will be it's top gun as on the KV-2 it's top gun will be the 152MM.  I don't have any inside knowledge by I suspect it
will give us some choice, good, bad, or indifferent.
