The PZIII A sucks.  It has a paper thin hull (15 mm all sides) so it can not even bounce the smallest shells.  The turret is almost as bad as you get 30/30/30 I believe.  Even with the upgraded turret, 210hp can vanish fast if you slow down at all.  Once I am done getting the XP I need this thing is getting sold and I am back to my Luchs.

THAT SAID, this tank can serve some fun roles.  General harassment can be fun, I use the flack 38 L/112 on it.  With some good aim I can track even the toughest enemies as I wiz by.  I also get some grim satisfaction that while I am not harming heavy targets, I am causing them critical and system damage.

Scouting can also work well and depending on the opposing tank, I can usually hamper, harm, or hurt most lights before they cut rough me like a hot knife through butter.

The only real reason I am sticking with this tin can is just to get into medium tanks...that is about it.  And that will be how it is for you to.  Enjoy and have fun.

at the moment im doing pretty well in my pzk III aust A but to start with when got it just go owned so so so bad nearly mad me give up on it. If you upgrade it iv found its pretty good light tank when get into games around my tier, i own getting good 2 or 3 kills thou somtimes get a bad round where die pretty fast main thing is to keep moving. When get into the lower tier game with tanks around same if team with a couple of pz 2s its good support tank. thou must is to have the 5mm gun to do damage i hated it without that gives bit more punch. Now just need the money to get my pz 3 med tank want a nice tiger 1

What a crap. I grinded my way through Soviet tanks till the is3 and I don't remember my t46 being THIS bad. I just hate this thing, I despise it. It was fully upgraded from the start and yet it was still crap. Always being at the bottom, often even without tanks you can damage or get close to.

Finally I am in my PZ3 and... it seems to be EXACTLY the same but participating in even worse battles, which btw never end  <_<

I hated this tank. Sold it as soon as I could get into the pzIII (pzIII is so much better, but still suffers from match making issues). My experience in the pzIIIa nearly every match was 1 shot took out my tracks and the next shot killed me.

Wow... I really loved this tank... far more than the PZII.  When you have it fully upgraded, it's quite the little machine.  I alternate between the 5cm and flak cannon to mix it up...  just make sure you keep away from any mediums.  It's great for light scouting and killing lower tiers.

I personally hated the Luchs... I sold that, but I'm not getting rid of this one.  I find it to be as much fun as my mostly fully upgraded Leo.

I'm grinding money on this so I can get the PZIV.  I happily sold my Luchs when I got my Leo.  I happily sold my PZII because of how well the IIIA performs.  I don't think I'll be getting rid of it any time soon.

Only 3 words.

This. Tank. Sucks.

I do have a million time more kills with my PzII then i have with my PzIII Ausf. A, even when my PzII was not elite status. Given that it's a successor of the PzII, I can't understand thew characteristics of this tank.

To me that's just something you need to get through as soon as possible. And then sell this piece of junk.

EDIT: Or possibly this tank is matched up against the wrong tanks by the match system?

Deity nailed the value of this tank on the head. You have to hunt what you can, and don't go messing around over your head. Sadly, almost all T3 tanks are like this (SPGs & TDs are a bit different) but b/c of the balancing system you'll end up often in matches against Tier 5 and even 6 tanks. And there's just nothing that you can do with your P3a to them aside from spotting them (sure you can hope for a lucky penetration shot into their rear, but hey... that's not tanking like we *want* to tank.)

Is it wrong? I donno... I consider Tier 3 to be the ultimate *grind* tier. Just push on through to the Piii and you'll be happy that you're out of it. Til then, play like you're underpowered when you run into a Medium or a Heavy. Because the fact is, you *are* under powered.

And yah, scouting is boring. The whole scouting system is rewarding suicides and not smart cautious supportive scouting. Part of that is map size, part of that is the nature of the design issues in the game.

Either way, Tier3 won't last forever :)

PS. Never sell all your tanks to move up to the next tier. EVERY stock tank is a piece of junk til you upgrade. As you get higher and higher you'll find that being able to go back to that lower tier elite tank will make you a lot more $$ to keep financing the loser stock tank you have... again, it's one of the game design things...

You're completly right ... as I do it now with my Pz II. However to upgrade your basic tank, you need to gather tank-specific exp. And THAT is kinda boring job, I have to say. Run through tons of battles, collecting some 80 to 10 exp per battle (that is, if you refrain from hinding away in the most distant corner of the map during battle). And even if you limit yourself on scouting, there's a good chance you will killed nevertheless by some arty or mid/hvy piece.

just wait, soon you will be matched with high tier TDs and Heavies because they need a "scout".  Btw the term "scout" in this game actually means free kill

I thought the term 'scout' meant you were one of the thirty-seconders - 30 second life expectancy per round  :P

In a desperate need for a break from my poor little Tigger, I brought myself a PzIIIA & a PzIII, for giggles. Had a few rounds in both, rather fun, although I've always had a giggle in the PzIII - it's that 7.5cm L/24 loaded with HE that does it, but was rather surprised by the PzIIIA. Might pick up a PzIII/IV for the complete set :D

I think people underestimate this tank. Ok, it's a pains in the ass playing with KV and Shermans, but whit which tier 3 tanks isn't it?? I love PzIII Ausf. Is so dammit fast that i can beat every scout that runs into our base. And if it's on of the middle or top tanks in the game it's amazing. And it's the first tank heavy and fast enough to ram. Really, I simply love this tank, all you need to do is know you role in the battle. B)

This Tank Really Sucks!

The tracts are made of paper. Even the best available gun is useless. And, the amor is coke-can thick...

Why they put a never in battle field tank in this game?

It's also depends on what kinda match are you up against. Sometimes its more advisable to hang a few moments then move or just scout. But the Aus is really tough to use! D:

PzIIIA is a pretty good light tank. While you still have paper armour, the speed and acceleration allow it to be quite energetic.

yeah i think in the german line up the IIIA and the hetzer are by far the worst. The hezter is sooo slow  and when other tanks get out of ur hull then its done your dead. The IIIA dies too fast its raelly horrible, grinding through these tanks SUCK

Once you've upgraded, light tanks are fresh meat to this tank, and if you use the terrain, obstacles and movement to your advantage, you can take some mediums. Track anything you can and leave em for the artillery to finish. Once you've fired your gun, move or die. Simple stuff really. Sure, you don't always survive, but if your survival trumps your team winning, then why are you playing a team game online?
