I wasn't a fan because with arty 3 tiers lower they sat me out.

The thing about a 5v5 is that allowing arty makes a huge impact.  You can't bring more than 1, or the enemy attacks.  Yet arty can make too much of an impact by getting the first kill.  Once you are up 1 kill it's a huge advantage.  In a 15v15 if you lose a tank that's 7% of your forces.  In 5v5 it's 20%...

I would love to see a tourney with 6-8 players each side and a limit of 1 artillery.  This way you can either defend or attack.  There's more tactics.  The maps won't feel so big.  And getting the first kill doesn't determine the outcome of the battle so quickly.

That said -  tourneys > CWs and I absolutely love 'em! :)

+1

The battles were very much rock scissors paper.

Arty+ scout > Heavies
Mediums > arty + scout
Heavies > Mediums

The key to winning was really combined arms but arty was risky.

Kill the eyes and arty was in trouble

Arty really only worked vs. heavies caught in the open by eyes and ears.

The key to winning was our total combined time of maybe 20 minutes in ATC, most of which was doodling male anatomy and stick figures.  Not much strategy talk thats for sure! :D

The 'ingame' training involved ttjones rambling on about bushes and rocks as he meandered around the map being totally ignored by the rest of us who had more interest in shooting and tracking each other. Again, no preparation whatsoever :D

During the battles involved a rather generic 'you go there, I go here, and shoot the bad men who are probably over there'

So yes, it was 100% flying blind for the most part  :Smile-izmena:

Our planning focused mainly synchronized driving.  Very careful maneuvers, and then we added some stunts.  Looks great!  But our opponents refused to wait for us to finish our performances before firing...
