I am pretty new to World of Tanks, and so far I am liking the Tank Destroyers. I am not really a fan of the German tank destroyers. But I do like the US and USSR tank destroyers. I am unsure which country to choose. The High Tier US Tanks destroyers look far better than the Soviet Tank destroyers. The US Tank destroyers have lower damage, but have higher penetration rate and more armour. The penetration rate has me leaning towards the US tank killers, because high damage is useless if you cant penetrate their armour. My playing style tends to be very mobile, and near the front. So, in your opinion, what team has better tank destroyers? The US or the USSR? And which ones make more money, and are fun to play on?     :Smile_honoring:

Personally, I like the American (Turreted line), and German TD line.

"What team has the best tank destroyers"? Usually the enemy team.

There is no 'best' anything in this game. All vehicles are more or less balanced. There are a few that are more difficult to use effectively (Jagdpanzer IV springs to mind) but all-in-all, the various nations' TD's are balanced with eachother.

Short story

T95 = Slow, Heavily armored, Turtle that has a 155mm Anti tank gun.
Object 704 = Moderate on speed, Armored enough to withstand shots, somewhat inaccurate with the 155mm but its one of the most popular TD.

T95 = Heavily armored, but too slow to withstand on its own against mediums that flank it.
Obj = Not as much armor as the T95, But its ability to move around the map makes it hard to flank, and is able to fight in certain places of the map the T95 can't.

Also, the Object has a cloak of invisibility not listed as one of the stats, whereas the T-95 is covered in flashing sirens.
Personally, for tiers 2-5, I recommend going either German or American, I never liked the USSR low tiers.  After that, all 3 lines (soon to be 4, only a few hours) have pretty good TDs.

Also, I recommend trying out the new US turreted line.  The M8A1 and T49 both appear to be very unique, and some of the later tanks could make a big impact on the battlefield.

German TDs have better pen and accuracy in general.
Russians have the harder hitting guns
Americans are kind of in between plus alot of theirs have turrets which can be nice.

All depends on what you prefer.

The american tier 8 and 9 TD's are not very mobile. You could probably walk across the battlefield faster. German TD's have superior armor in the lower tiers and are far more mobile in the upper tiers. All TD's tend to get real expensive to use in the upper tiers. An example is my Tier 7 T-25 AT. It's 1000 credits per round fired for the standard AP rounds. If it gets destroyed during the battle the repair costs are usually between 12,000 and 16,000 credits depending on the modules that get direct damage during the battle. If i fire 10 rounds and get smoked I'm looking at spending 26,000 credits on a match. If your not getting the kills just doing damage and someone else is finishing you can break even on the match if your on the winning team. If your on the losing team you generally fall way short on the credits. Going to be interesting after the next update to see if the economy changes make that better or worse.

german TDs excluding hetzer- accuracy, RoF is the name of the game. sit back, blast tanks from 400m. low survivability. hetzer is odd-man-out w/ its 105 miniderp. first 2 topguns came from this beast, and the crew now resides in my jagdpanther.
soviet: like the KVderp, only bigger. hard hitting, low accuracy, decent survivability. planning to start this line soon.
US: turrets. or MASSIVE front armor. the T95 needs gold rounds to pen its 300m front. no other ammo has the pen to kill this guy frontally. slow, so arty magnet.

i personally think the marder is an excellent low tier td, and i love the lower tiers of the game, but as for best overall td line, id have to say american. they are coming out with a new line for turreted tds, including the hellcat which is nerfed down to 72 kmph, not 90+, like it should be :(. the current ones are fairly good, with me having 2 boelters a piece in the slug and t25 at. i personally didnt play much into the t28, so i cant really say about the end tier, but early to mid-high tiers americans are really good, lower tiers germans are excellent, and russians......well, i havent played them at all lol

tanks destroyers are not meant to be near the front......they sit back and snipe usually.......if you like mobile ones ur best bet would be the t25 AT. if you expect to make credits the rule is usually tier 6 or bellow. have a Jagd Panther right now and its SOOOO fun with the last gunhttp://cdn-frm-us.wargaming.net/wot/us/4.1/style_emoticons/default/Smile-izmena.gif

Russian TDs = Very large guns, long reloads, high camo ratings, usually good mobility, very weak armor, usually less accurate.
German TDs = Good armor, great DPS guns, lower damage per shot but faster reload, very accurate.
US TDs = in tiers 1-4 they have large guns, in tiers 5-6 they have turrets, and in tiers 7-9 they start to get much slower (besides the T25), but have enormous amounts of armor (T28, T95) and larger guns. Another US td line is coming with all turrets.

TDs are one of the few classes that I think are balanced between nations, although I prefer US & German TDs (I haven't played to higher tier TDs though).
I hope this helped.

You dont need gold to pen the front of the 95... you just need to know where to aim.  :Smile_honoring:

The Panzerjager I has the best sounding engine of all the tanks in the game.

Yup, it's got quite the glass jaw...  Literally!  A King Tiger can crack the lower "chin" of the T95 with regular 105mm AP.

Not easy, and risky as hell, but definitely possible.

The T30 might be the answer. Mobile, "near" the front.
