The sad part about this ending is that there was fair warning, or concerns, from players about it prior to it starting (go read the original thread about it here:
http://forum.worldof...?/topic/106325- ). The tie breaker question was post #17. The real question of collusion starts on page 2, post 29. All of which was about 24 hours before the start of the contest. This discussion was continued throughout the thread. Many posts about how there were companies out there lol-hunting, etc.
Not a single response from anyone at WG after post #16 (until the contest was well over). Sad.
Postponing the contest would have been the best move. Ignoring those posts was a poor move. Screwing everyone over was the worst move.
Everyone participated in that contest with the understanding that there would be 3 chances to win. Those were the rules. Those that came in second or third, at the time, were probably happy that they at least qualified for something. And WG rips the carpet out from their feet. Hell, first place players are even being screwed over.
Only 21 companies with a perfect score, huh? How many with second or third place scores?
Sorry, but this is a horrible ending to a horribly planned and executed contest.
And I don't care what anyone wants to say about "cheating" players, or "they ruined the fun for me", the ones that ruined the fun here, the real cheaters here is WG.
Its just disappointing to me how they said that first place team gets 22,500 gold, and then when there were 21 first place teams, they changed their story and gave the total prize gold to the 21 teams to be divided, instead of each team getting 22,500 gold. It's not like they have to forge the gold to give it out! So, essentially, they lied on the tourney page when they said the first place team will get 22,500 gold to divide among members.
