German TD's worth the effort to keep...

As I'm sure some will do....no, I'm not "supertanker" but I'm not terrible - 49% win, 49% loss, I'll save you the time.....
Right now I'm up to the JagdPanther.....and so far am VERY disappointed in this vehicle.
Tired of:
- lovely MM putting me up against tier 9 and 10 and getting holed from across the map by tanks I cannot even see
- the wet paper armor that even a Tier 4 Hetzer can shoot thru
- so far the derp 88 (stock) was bad enough in the JagdPanzer....even worse in this vehicle because of MM
- being afraid of even tier 5 tanks that have better armor, a better gun, and just about as many hit points...oh, and they can go faster and out-turn me....also OH - wow, they even have a turret....
Is this thing worth the grind??? Right now, have the crew at 91% with a carryover camo rating of 45% (from the JagdPz)....and don't know if I want to waste more time and gnashing of teeth with this pig.....I feel like I'm back in my 38nA again, but at least with that vehicle it was cheap enough to get to the next tier......

JagPanther is much better then it used to be. It will get much better when you get the top gun for it.
The Ferdi is very good and you will have lots of fun with it once you learn how to use it and have it all elited.
Don't waste your time on JagTiger. It gets taken out far to easy and top gun is good at sniping but armor is very lacking.

I'm not up to that TD yet, I'm still raising money for the JagdPz. Nontheless, I still know that the high tier German Tank Destroyers are some of the best in the game, with amazing armor and devistating firepower. Keep grinding, it will get better!

jagdpanther is one of the most consistently popular vehicles in the game. if you don't enjoy it, that's fine - mobile, bouncy, accurate tank destroyers just may not be your play style. not a darn thing wrong with the vehicle, though.
of course, if you didn't like anything in the line before it, you're certainly not going to like the slower (but still impossible to hide) ferdi and jagdtiger.

Hmm, I absolutely loved my JP, even stock. You're a mobile TD, not a brawler. Use your gun to wreak havoc from afar, then relocate as the battle situation demands it. It's hard to hide the JP because it's so tall, but your goal should still be to remain undetected when possible. When you know you are detected, find cover and disappear again. It's not built for taking hits, it's built for hitting people who aren't suspecting it.
As for the carrot on the stick (beyond the JP), I don't have the Ferdi yet. Many people say it's amazing, but I know one or two who had a hard time with it.

Heh.
Yeah, JagdPanther is by far one of the best, most fun in the game when it's maxed out. Ferdi was both fun and frustrating; That 12.8cm is beastly, I did tons of damage and bagged plenty of kills, yet could never swing wins. I think I had more 7-8 kill losses in that thing than anything else. That was the only thing that made Ferdi bad for me.

Once you get the long 88, things will get better. You'll still have to try and aim your shots for general weak areas. Despite what most believe, German accuracy isn't that good that you'll be able to pick out weak spots reliably at range. If you are getting shot by things you can't see, then you are too far forward and should hang back a bit. Let your team be your eyes and if you don't have them already, get some Binocs. Just remember as a general rule of thumb Heavies will have better view range then you will. The JgdPanther has been my fav. TD so far.

For me when I got the 10cm that tank gets downright Nasty at range if you get a tier 9 or 10 on its side (save maybe the maus) they will feel your hit for 330+ with a very fast reload. You just need to know when to hold them and know when to fold them

JagdPanther is an amazing tank. Both the 8.8 L/71 and the 10.5 are fantastic guns and the engines and track upgrades make it surprisingly mobile.
The Ferdinand is a horrible stock tank, but it really comes into it's own once fully upgraded. Be warned, the stock grind is painful though.
JagdTiger i'd skip. It's a pretty cool tank fully upgraded, but the armor and camo is a f'n joke compared to its peers. Spotted 400 meters out and penetrated by anything with a gun attached to its turret. I have kept both my JagdPanther and Ferdinand in my garage and play them both regularly. I do wish I had spent that 3.5 million on an E-75 instead of a JagdTiger though. There's no reason to play a tier 9 tank destroyer unless you like being unfairly punished for your choice of tank. Stick with heavies and mediums in tier 9. They do everything you can at that point and survive far longer through armor or mobility.

As you can tell from my signature, I think the Ferdinand is awesome! I did not like the JP though. I prefer a vehicle with better frontal armor. I had the JT for a while and sold it... though I wish I would have kept it. Now that I'm better at finding ways to hide my lower hull, I miss my JT.

Don't bother with German TDs unless you're a really good player. They are amazing in skilled hands, but bad if you're average. The Jagdtiger is one of the proest tanks, with the best gun in the game but also mediocre armor and the worst camo in the game.

I have to agree, the Ferdi stock is slow and the gun isn't all that great, but the 12cm gun rocks (get tracks first though so you don't get flanked as easily).

Grind up to the Ferdi and get enough XP saved up to get the Stug E-100 when it comes out (next year maybe), pass on the JT, as WG refuses to "actually" fix it.

Sold mine for t30 money. Had enough of the M3 lee penning me from the front, while hes is invisible and I am not, despite he is as big as a barn and I have 125% camo and behind 2 bushes. Crew is on R&R awaiting a new Ferdie!

You may not like the JT, as it takes a lot of time and effort to get the hang of it, but the Ferdi is very universally loved.

with the exception of the marder II everthing incl. the stug III is rubbish, mostly, cause it is placed into to high level battles. and so i stopped exactly with the stug III. compare the su 85 with the stug III the su was much more fun, but reduced too, cause now placed too in too high level battles ( the old problem, they have too few players ). so... fed up with this, i am not interested with this stupid role as burning candle. and i have had a nod bad win rate in the stug III ... but it is wotrth for nothing in the role it is used now: a scout ...lol...

I love my JP. There are times when MM isn't very kind, but overall the JP is a killing machine. Get the 105 w/rammer, binoculars, and a large tool kit and enjoy.

Yeah the jagpanth is amazing. Completely worth the terribad jp4 grind. Once you get the 88 or the 105 on it and can actually pen tier 8s from the front consistently, you should start to like it a lot. It's damage per min is INSANE for a tier 7.

have you upgraded to top module ? there's an old saying "never judge a tank until you've fully upgraded it".
I'm still grinding tier 7 JagdPanther, and I love it so far. one of the reason is that JagdPanther was one of the 3 tank when I was alway aiming to use one day.
even with the old 88' (the PaK 36, the same one being used by JagdPzIV) can kill the IS-3 (I do). who know how much chaos can the 105mm cause ?

I hate to say it but this version of the Ferdinand is a complete joke. In the beta the old one could stop every tier 10 gun with a little bit of angling and distance on your side. Now it's got about as much armor as the ISU-152 and that's just dumb. The fully upgraded JP is fun but the JP4 is sooooo bad.... it was one of the few tanks I skipped.
Unless the German tanks get a fantasy post WWII armor/penetration rebalance there's really not much reason to play any of them (aside from the GW-E which is still awesome).
