Frontal ammo-racked?

I've done it a few times to enemy T59, frontal shots to their hull at close or long range, and 1 shotted them.
I didn't know the ammo rack was frontal... whats going on?

a shell can pen through the front hull and keep traveling within a tank. you were unlucky enough to get hit by a round with enough energy to pen and then travel enough to strike one of the more internal ammo racks and destroy it.
I know that my T-54 can get front penned by a ISU-152 and blow up from a critical ammo rack. A type 59 would be no different

Russians put ammo anywhere there was free room in their vehicles, Ive heard stories from vets saying how they were practically standing on shells.

Oh man thats nuts. Worse than Lowe's frontal engine fires.
I've always just shot at T59 hull never aimed anywhere in particular.. but after this, i'm gunning for that ammo rack!!

Remember in soviet russia they didn't rely on A rack, they relied on RACKS...and when out of room, they stood on them.....no wonder when a tank got racked, the crew is nowhere to be found...

So you are saying an American or a German tank with 20-40 shells exploding inside it will have the crew simply slightly confused and dazed? I know they experimented with breakaway things in some turrets to vent the exploding gases. Something tells me that poor loader or commander still wouldn't be comfortable. To say the least.

T-44, T-59 and T-54 are mooving ammo rack. Having a small tank have a lot of advantages, but a lot of disadvantages. Having no places to store your ammo is a problem, so that's why ammo are stored a bit everywhere in thoses tanks.
