VK2801 is a HUGE letdown

dude the 75 is for snipers the 105 is for hit and run the 105 is best gun if u use gold rounds then u will get good pen and if u dont use gold then u either get rid of it or make it work dont say a vehichle sucks unless u have maxed out frew put equipment on and used gold rounds at least once then u can say u have truly tried the vehicle.

You do not need to waste money on gold rounds. HE does not need to penetrate to do damage. The 105 works quite fine for Sniping, too. Unlike AP rounds, HE does not suffer a distance penalty, making it well suited for long range attacks.

lol...I started in my VK-2801 with a Basic Training crew and no top end upgrades. I still did well way back then. Certainly better gear and better training helps but play style matters most and, looking deeper, Situational Awareness is the single most important skill to master; not the Crew Skill - the YOU the PLAYER skill.
Most people who complain about the 2801 do so because they try to play it like a T-50-2. It isn't. I fit my style of play to the tank, not the other way around. It's like any good coach of a sports team - you achieve best results by adapting play style to the team's capabilities, not by forcing your team to play a set style they can't play simply because you like playing that way. No matter what Tier V Scout you drive, if you try to force it to do stuff it can't do, you will be unhappy. If you learn what it can do then master application of those attributes you will be more than happy with your Cougar.

Well said, Taz. I only recently got the VK unlocked after the long Leopard grind... and after just two runs: I love it! It is very different than most other light tanks, but I did my research up front and decided to play it the it was "intended". I am by no means an expert and if I am able to get a few kills in my first game, then anyone can. Be flexible and pick your battles carefully...
Oh, and the the 10.5 + HE is the way to go... Derp! Derp! Derp!

I honestly started doing better when I started using AP on tanks I know I can pen. I reserve HE for tanks I am SURE I will pen with HE or tanks I am SURE I cannot pen with AP.

7.2 upped it's profitability by 14%. Personally, I hated the Leo. That little pea shooter of a gun drove me insane. I would sneak through get great position on something then barely be able to dent it.
