Now we must have stats about having fun.

Soon, there will be fun rate mods, fun prediction mods, fun efficiency mods, etc.

People will be bragging that their fun rate is superior to others, clans will be elitist and only recruit people with high or low fun rates, depending on their gestalt.

Comments like 'Dude, you are terribad at fun. Your fun rate is less than AFK.  You really have to work to have so little fun.  You're a happiness burden to your team. You should just uninstall," will become common.

The forums will fill with threads such as:

"WOT is biased towards Russian fun!"

" Such-and-such tank is Happiness OP!"

"Wallet Warriors -- Why you are a black hole of fun and people hate you."

Garbad will be posting videos on How To Have Fun Tanking, while brandishing his superior fun rate before all and reveling in his enjoyment ubernosity.  He will insist to the end that good players can lead their teams to happiness.

And of course people will be raging that German tanks always lose fun when taking a critical hit to the transmission, American tanks are grossly under-funned and only produce enjoyment when played hull down, and that Russian tanks always bounce anything unfun off their unfairly thick and angled armor.

lolz...

I actually think it would be a step in the right direction if we all only considered how fun particular tanks are...

and if attempts were made by the devs to make certain tanks more fun

and well...

if someone makes a mod that increases my fun ratio, I WILL USE IT!!!

I picked 6 / 10.

I counted.

It strangely coincides with the quality of team I get.. (srsly, if someone played 4k games and has a E75, didn't that person learn by then that charging down El Haluf's centre along with tier 5 suiciders is not that great of an idea...)

I like wargames because the element of skill overcomes the element of chance.

I am not having fun when people cause unnecessary distractions. My kill rate skyrocketed when the game included a way to turn off the sound that accompanied map spamming. The flashing green screen caused by incessant map spamming is still an annoyance.

I am not having fun when some platoon wanker causes the team to be weakened through bringing a low tier tank. Lately I've been rage quitting in protest or team killing the little wanker.

My enjoyment is decreased when I encounter assholes that delight in causing damage or grief to team mates.

I get pissed off with the people who insist rape is a game term. I refuse to play with rapists.

I am a history buff. I get a kick out of sim-driving famous tanks from battles I have read about. I am not having fun when I am in a match full of tanks that never existed beyond the prototype stage. I am not having fun when the shots from my tank bounce off or cause minimal damage to the imaginary mastodon tank that one shots mine.

I play games for the challenge of matching wits with opponents. That assumes I have a reasonable chance of surviving a fight. I like getting sniper and scout medals. I am not having fun when my tier 5 is matched against a pack of T59s or similar mismatches. My solution has been to almost exclusively play tier 2 & 3 games. I may have to cut that too; my tier 3 tank is often in tier 5 games and I am getting quickly tired of getting killed again and again by Churchills that recently got changed to a lower tier.

Its fun being part of a group of people out to enjoy the same things I enjoy, which fortunately occurs in most games.

I really have fun when I win a fight that results in medals such as Halonens or Kolobanovs. I feel these are indicators of a true test of skills.

So there are problems but overall this is a fun game. I continue to find the game a fun way to fill time. 18000 and counting.

The amount of people saying they have fun 5 or less out of 10 games is rather surprising, and it makes me believe those people are masochists. I mean, why the hell would you play a game you aren't even having fun HALF the time? I rarely have the patience for games I have fun 75% of the time.

sometimes i just pray and wait till i get himmelsdorf with no artillery. And those are the magic moments i love playing WOT for.

What drew me to the game initially was the challenge of it all.

Then it was the idea of upgrading and advancing that appealed to me.

Then i became better at the game and it was fun to kill tanks and succeed in goals i set for myself.

Far too quickly though it often became about some sort of obsessive-compulsive need to "finish" and get to play all the different tanks.

Finally, it is only the built-in subliminal messages that now force me to stay against my will.

I hold tab for about 10 seconds at the start of each game and figure out whether it will be fun or if I'll just hold W because MM is insane.
(-1/10)
The worst match right now is the high tier one where 1 team will get 1 or 2 tier 5's instead of tier 7's and to make it really balanced they get 2-4 extra tier 9's(oh no we get two less Tigers but it's ok because we got 3 IS4's and an E75!)  So that kills 1/10 rounds for me because you can guess which team never wins, it's not a challenge ad therefore not worth my time win or lose.
(-2/10)
To kill 2 more of the 10 rounds are the rounds with more than 1 Hummel(multiple hummels, tier 8 arty etc.). I have no interest in playing with quick accuracy arty that need not set up while also having satellite guidance plus the ability to shatter 12 inches of armour when it explodes 8 meters away in mud.
(-2/10)
Next up are 2 more rounds thrown away to the lemmings in which you roll out of base to realize that your team are completely new to WoT despite having tier 10 tanks. They'll all go the way that the enemy never goes and half way to winning they will stop to camp because a big scary m26 shot one of the 3 E100's in the track. Meanwhile I face 14 enemies by myself watching them get mad at me for pinging the map.
(-1/10)
Lets not forget the whiny entitlement elitist baby tankers.  Ex. OMG that's my Spot!(then they shoot you) or OMG I died and you didn't, you suck(insert swearing and obscene comments) or how about OMG! they are capping base I can't get my Type 59 which is  50 M ahead of you back there, use your T34's amazing speed to travel 500m and stop them...oh you can't, you noobs suck!
This leaves me with about 4/10 rounds that I would classify as a positive experience and probably less especially since I give what I get right back to the rage babies especially the ones that shoot me in anger only to end up with myself getting chat banned.
Yeah....it's probably closer to 3, I only play because I have friends that play.

It's funny, but I was thinking about this a lot today.

I had almost a full day off work where I had nothing much planned and I hoped to get some serious game time in on WoT.   Then I saw that it was a 5x weekend.   And then I started to lose.... over and over again.    :(

It finally occurred to me....   The MM is not just screwed up because WG can't get it right.   Nor is it always the poor player's fault.  The truth is that Wargaming does not want you to have fair matches.   They are not making profits in the millions of dollars because the game is well designed and balanced.   It is designed for one thing only - to tease the player with a good match once in a while then frustrate them with several poor matches all with the intent of making that player spend money in the hope of overcoming those frustrations.

Crack dealers could learn a thing or two from these devs... seriously.

In all honesty, one of my pipe dreams is that the devs made this game so that you got zero experience for a loss.   As long as players can grind their way to high tier tanks even when constantly loosing and under performing, most matches will always be "un-fun".  And these stupid 5x experience weekends don't help either.  I lost count of the number of AFK leachers in the game today.   Almost one every match and sometimes two or three.  Added to the increase in unskilled casual players logging in just to get the 5x daily... and today was one of those days that almost makes you uninstall this game.

I think it's because a lot of us are serious competitors.  I know I am a stubborn SOB that keeps working at something until I succeed.   And those rare matches where everyone works together perfectly are such a rush.  That's why i still play.

10/10 games I have fun if I'm in platoons with clan mates ;)

I wish i could say that. My clan mates are all nice folks but most of them aren't stellar players (lots of still-learning-the-ropes kind of players).

I'd say its even more fun when your friends are learning and getting better and better. Improvement is always a good thing, just need to look at it from a bigger picture. There's always that great feeling when you teach someone a technique and it works out great for them.

Do you cry like this all the time or are you still that butt-hurt over how the American heavies turned out? I mean I see you in every thread about US heavies, always leaving a trail of snot and tears...

It's a game dude, relax.

7/10. I get enjoyment from trying hard to helping clanmates *or friends* grind up and giving them some advice or tips randomly.

I know I don't have fun alot of times. Every time I hit the battle button It feels like someone is sticking a needle in my eye.

Tryed playing my t34 last night.... Lost 11 times in a row.

Here is some of the pain...

Have a look at some of those matches. Ask yourself how much fun are the tier 5s having being trolled by CR printing tier 8 premmies.

MM is THE main reason I don't enjoy the game any more. There are many vehicles that are fun to play IF you end up with no worse than 1 tier above, or maybe a few 2 tiers on top. But the MM serves you a TON of them over and over. For me, playing a tier 5-6, at LEAST 50% of the tier 8s in battles are premmies.

That's the OTHER problem. The game is seemingly designed to force you to higher tiers (thanks MM) which then forces premium account OR premmy tier 8 (economic system) which then combines to smash people at lower tiers.

It's all arse about face. It seems to be about brutalising the player base until you have a small core of addicts spending absurd (in gaminig terms) amounts of money. Wide appeal fun and a much larger player base is apparently not a concern.

Incidentally, OP, you have a typo in the poll: option "2 in 20" I assume should be "2 in 10".

SO I enjoy maybe 1-2 in 10 these days. I rarely play much; perhaps 50 games a week if that?

I certainly don't spend money any more. In fact I have gold left from the heavy pre-order. Their failure to address single game modes and the awful MM, plus the overall sense I have of their design philosophy amd their utter disdain for an entire playing/paying market, means they are not a group I will spend any further money with.

Am looking forward to MWO. Let's see how THEY handle balance and a FTP model as a comparison.

Cheers
