tiger 2 mid option gun

ShaneAlpha's Photo ShaneAlpha Apr 15 2012

So, I started off with the 88 fitted tiger 2, it's enjoyable and finally doing damage to higher tier tanks. then I get the first 10.5 and suddenly it has become the biggest P.O.S. next to the american T32. In 5 matches I've lost count of the number of times I've hit tanks ( e.g. tiger P, Is3, Is4, T29, Vk 4502) in sides, turret sides, and lower facing glacis to have zero pen, and zero damage, not even a ricocet. Is there something wrong with  this useless pice of carp? I realise that you lose 20mm pen going from the 88 to the 105 but seriously why do the 105mm guns in this game complety fail?

Just stick with the long 88 until you unlock the long 105.

And times that by an infinity....

I still have my KT, and it has the long 105, I actually did enjoy the short 105 in fact :P

So don't you dare go up to me anytime or anyplace and bag on me for being a noob (Maybe I am, if that's true, then you're worse, cause I faired OK with the 105s)

You don't lose 20mm of pen, its like 2 or 3mm. But the no damage shots are just game bugs, not the gun.

It is pretty widely known that the short 105 is a POS. I have it unlocked, but I am sticking with the 88 until I can get the long 105. Pen is better than damage, when one is playing a sniper role, and for most matches I find my KT in, sniper and support is the appropriate role. If you try to brawl an IS-4 or T-110, you are meat.,

Be patient, grind that 46,000 for the long gun, and enjoy your TigerII for what it is, a great and durable Tier VIII.

I just wasted XP and credits to research/buy the short 105. Absolutely worthless and given the ammo cost just plain stupid. Switched back to the 88. Damage it deals can at least pay for the shells.

Is ammo cost same on Long 105? it is insane 1k per round while 88 got 250

i chose the short 105 over the 88 when i unlocked the King Tiger and I haven't had any problems but just like this guy posted, i've penetrated the front of a patton, top of a lowe and did no damage. i was actually able to make profit with the short 105 but i do have a premium account....

Both 105 has 1k per shot rate,

It's the nature of the guns this caliber...

Yep, long 105 has the same shell cost as the short 105. Also short 105 is not terrible, but just like the long 105 it punishes you if you don't aim for weakspots. The long 88 is a bit more forgiving due to its faster firing rate and lower shell cost. I know some people that use the long 88 over even the long 105. I couldn't personally use the long 88 as it just didn't scare anyone, I'd shoot people with that peashooter and they'd rush me.

You do realize that Ausf A drivers have it as the top gun right, I find it adequate to punching through the front of most equal tier heavies.

The short 105 worked better for me than the long 88.  Only 3 less pen and much better damage.  First heavy tank I have gotten that actually is useful stock.  Most (cough cough IS-3&IS-8) are lousy stock.

I went long 88 to the long 105, without using the shorter 105. The loss in pen and accuracy as well as DPM wasn't worth the increased damage per shot plus cost of ammo.

Please, if you actually used some basic math: 7.84*240 = 1881.6 DPM for long 88
                                                                          5.97*320 = 1910.4 DPM for short 105

Also 105 has much better aim time, and aim time > accuracy

The SHort 105 is actually pretty good in brawls if you have any knowlege of weakspots and can aim.
It has a higher ROF than the long 105, so you can take Tig2s with the long gun 1on 1 fairly safely.

I used the short 105 over the 99 just like on the JPanther.  It is not bad, but only works if you have good shot selection.  I found I made more credits and exp with the higher damage produced by the 105.  The long 105 helps the Tiger II come into its own.
