I was looking for a suitable end tier light tank for the british tech tree when I came across this jewel:
http://www.tankmuseu...gle/saladin.jpg

Stats from this link

Technical specifications

Engine: Rolls-Royce B80 Mk 6A 8-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol producing 170hp at 3750rpm
Maximum speed: 72km/h
Fuel capacity & range: 200l, 400km
Armament: 76mm main gun, 7.62mm MG coaxial, 7.62mm AAMG, 2x6 smoke grenade dischargers
Combat weight: 11.59t
Length: 4.93m excluding gun (5.284m gun forwards)
Width: 2.54m
Height: 2.39m
Armour: max. 32mm
Crew: three

How cool is that, and it even politely conforms to the WOT engine limit of 72 kph.

Biased poll is biased.

And also, use the search function.  They have said no many times.

In conclusion, *drinks*

EDIT: The -1 was for the biased poll, but thanks for the positive feedback

I wouldn't mind AC but since they aren't using tracks, they technically aren't tanks.. and the game is called World of Tanks...

One problem I can see if that it renders LT useless, since AC are considerably more mobile in most terrain types then LTs.

I don't think that the game is set up for wheeled vehicles. They've done a lot of work coding for tracks and they've got them right. Wheels would be a big step. Besides, like your poll said. It's world of TANKS.

Neat little find though. +1

I am sure they will not add them to the game but it would be fun. Someone of my friends said that WG has already said "NO ARMORED CARS" But thats what I was told anyway. There are a lot of fun looking armed cars from WW2 and the post war. Hell I have seen one with the AMX 13 turret on one. there some thing eles for the players to whine about to lol.  :Smile-hiding:

Voted yes

And i'll see your saladin and raise you a SdKfz 234/2 Puma or if I really wanted to make you cry I would field the SdKfz 234/4 mounted with a 7.5cm Pak40 with a top speed of 85kph

no it wouldn't..  one trip through any soft terrain (swamp, karelia) and the armored car is stuck..   light tanks spread their weight better and therefore can traverse it..  so in the end..  on half of the maps, the armored car would be useless

Once WG is done "balancing" this with its 105 "modern" gun. It'll be a perfect fit for your idea!

It's nice, it's just way too modern.

Also, a note on mobility. While wheeled vehicles may be better on firm ground they will struggle with snow and swamps much more so than tanks, they will also have trouble breaking through or rolling over obstacles like tanks do.

:) I learned my gunnery on just that very vehicle OP the old Sally Can back in the 70s :)

Like others have said AC,s wont be allowed in the game which is a pity because my regiment used them as a Recce vehicle which they where perfect for with a good mix of speed armour and a pretty decent gun and once they where obsolete we moved onto the CVR(T) http://en.wikipedia....ssance_(Tracked) and CVR(W) http://en.wikipedia....ssance_(Wheeled) with a troop of Ferret MK5s with Swingfire missiles mounted so we had qiute a mobile potent fighting force part of NATO,s AMF(L) forces http://en.wikipedia....ile_Force_(Land) that had to be ready at 3 hours notice to fly out from the UK to anywhere in the world

The puma is pretty quick but it looks a little under gunned, they did give it a 5cm gun but I don't see it competing with the vk2801.

What I would like to see in this game is more speedy killers like the chaffee, perhaps it's tracked replacement the bulldog would be a great tier 6 US light.

Can anyone suggest an end tier British light tank from a suitable period i.e. 1939-1959?
Secondly and a bit off topic, does anyone know what the most modern tank in world of tanks is? By this I mean when it was designed since a few of the tanks have very long service histories.

Also as kebab6597's post stated some of these early wheeled vehicles were used until relatively recently and in a world where only fit tank/armored vehicle designs survive they must have been good at their role, i.e. scouting and counter scouting.
+1 for actually driving it dude.

I found it how about this armord car The Panhard EBR (Panhard Engin Blindé de Reconnaissance). This a french armored car that has driver in the front as well as the back. Most be it can get out of combat as fast as it got in to it lol. It also has the same turret as the AMX 13 tanks.

Here a link to it http://en.wikipedia....iki/Panhard_EBR

very simple answer : sovjets never had real good armored cars, and the few they had..hmmm... so, clear NO CHANCE

I had to vote yea.  Yes Half tracks would be kool, armored cars too, the Italian ones are neat.  But they would suck against any tank even a light.  So basically a target is what they would be, a fast one i suppose.  But ...we do enjoy a juicy target in WoT :)

Armored cars can be in so long as a broken axle means you're permanently stuck, and if you get stuck in mud, only a tank can jar you loose, and may or may not crush you in the attempt.

In other words, no thanks.
