Balance issues.

this isnt a sim, there are no issues.  all the tanks have to "balanced" so there is some give and take.  examples of this sort of historical inaccuracy are found throughout the tech trees...like the King Tiger having the 10.5cm.

Most heavy tanks are slower than their historical speed to make the game more playable for mediums.

In any case I think you'll find that the listed top speed for the KT only applies on paved roads where it gets some time to build up speed. The one it has ingame is more realistic considering rough terrain and it reaches that speed quickly with the top engine.

Imagine what things would be like if they gave the earlier tanks the "no shift on the go" tractor transmissions they really.
Another clue this is not a simulation "hit points".

exactly...nearly every penetrating hit would kill the tank...about 2/3 resulted in an ammo fire with in seconds.  molten metal from the shot going through the armor spraying all over the crew and inside components of a tank will do that i guess.

The real nasty thing is that if any ammo gets hit the propellant charges are likely to rupture, spreading it through the air and making a nice small-scale fuel air explosion that can either blow things up or light the tank on fire. I'm not sure which would be luckier for the crew to be frank.

If you want to know why some of the heavies having their speed limited for balance reasons isn't a big deal, look at the M18, which can't hit 72 kph except on roads, much like the genuine article couldn't do its top speed except on roads. Instead, the King Tiger has a lowered top speed but really quite good acceleration to that mark.

With your kind of logic, that means the IS-7 must go at 60 km/h cause that's its historical speed. Like a tier 10 tank with ridiculously sloped 150mm armor plates and a beast gun going at 60 km/h is not gonna be OP. >.>

And besides, if the KT went at 38, there would be almost no point in having the IS-3.

ok I may be missing sumting but by not giving all tanks their correct speeds how does that help balance the game?
