Unlike all the hack claims, i think it's a lot more likely that some players started using bots to grind more credits. Months ago, the bots were merely just driving into walls or shooting at random, but recently i've seen some strange play that leave me to believe there might be some more advanced versions running around. For example i seen some tanks trying to pass through impassable obstacles to get to enemies on the other side, some others trying to shoot through buildings repeatedly or attack enemies their gun depression made them miss without trying to correct their aim or find a better angle on them or simply, just random cruising around the map and shooting at what is showing up regardless of what is going on the map (like being capped or everyone else getting killed). Sure, this can be explained by truly noobish play, but that's what i would expect from a rudimentary AI attempting to drive a WOT tank around.
Do you believe such bots are in use?
Lets talk about Bots.

With the players I see sometimes I sure hope so, otherwise the human species might be in trouble.

Everything you described I see very often, mostly when I take my MS-1 for a ride, I believe that it is rather human lack of skill. Remember that you do not have to be good player to get to high tiers, all you need is to lose enough battles to crawl up ( or buy a lot of gold ). Patton/Pershing mounting 105 from Sherman cos it have" more damage you noob!" ( real story ). Anyway, I prefer to have bot in my team that player who acts like one, at last first one have some kind of logic.

correct, if you dig deep enough you will find websites (which I obv cant name due to forum rules which I have finally read over)[after many bans
] you will find that bots are MUCH more advanced now. I have an account on one (from long ago, back in cs 1.6 days) and Ive seen a couple of posts and promotional videos. The bots will move out of base using a random route which is pre-scripted for each map (most maps seem to have multiple). The bot will also recognize teammates and enemies, will avoid contact with friendlies and will fire blindly/stopped aim on enemy targets.
And this is only what i have PERSONALLY seen, most likely there are some that you pay $100 a month for which will simulate a combat of a real player to around 80% and thereby actually go positive in matches; and will make those users VEEEEEERY hard to detect and they will be rolling in credits/xp

The human species wasn't already in trouble
Back on topic though.....i've seen bots that could do wow raids decently (as evidenced by the fact our GM used a few of them to fill in DPS spots in a raid when i still played) so i see no reason why they couldn't adapted to run a tank.

I don't think bots are very common.
There are a ton of players on from 3am - 6am (Eastern) with Asian names who have 15,000+ battles and absolutely no tactical skills or good stats.
They sit behind buildings and rocks, pointing at every red dot that appears, but only move if it gets within range.
When it seems safe they'll run for a cap.
More often than not, they sit and wait for a tank to get in range and then actually fight very intelligently.
Usually too little too late.

I would have more respect for a player that is just that bad than I would a person that would actually go find a program to play a computer game for them. The idea of a bot to lvl your account for you is just beyond pathetic to me.

I see a few bots here and there, but the real problem is the literal horde of afk "players." I see in games. Yeah, I know "life happens," but it must be happening an awful lot to some players for me to be seeing players that are obviously not there in most of the battles I'm in.
Yes, I report them every single time I can. If they're a "life happens" afk, then their ratio is like mine - 1 or 2 every 1000 battles or so - and they haven't got a single thing to worry about. If they're a chronic leech, then it's one more report towards getting them perma-banned as they so richly deserve.

Some T-50-2s are definetly bots
, it's really hard to tell since most people just:
1.aim at the enemy base
2.drive!
1.aim at the enemy base
2.drive!
#-10 Posted Apr 17 2012 - 01:15
Light tank suicides might as well be bots. Putting the T-50-2 in full forward and walking off in Campanovka is sad.

Most common one I've seen is one that sits AFK at base. If shot by an enemy in sight it will autotarget the enemy then fire until it is dead or target is lost. Repeat. Doesn't even move or twitch even if you run up and use it as cover as long as you don't shoot it. Most commonly seen in premium tanks likely for credit making purposes.
Probably more advanced ones around too.

I`ve "riden" with a few after I died. They move, turn turret left and right and fire randomly. Rinse and repeat

My daughter loves this game, just recently we recieved an email where she had been reported using bots! She is new at the game and doesn't even know what a bot is, this is just another rediculous claim!
#-5 Posted Apr 23 2012 - 09:45
yeah I don't see why not, making a bot is probably not a very hard thing to do

Dear me, its the ultimate insult: we have examined your playstyle and you appear to be a bot

I have seen some behaviour exactly like this. All but certain they are bots.
Others? I think a lot of it is that some people just have no idea/don't care/are on drugs/otherwise 'challenged'.
Someone else mentioned AFK. I see THAT a great deal. Some of it can be poor connections; I've had client crash while loading, although I can almost always get back in within 10 seconds of the match starting (has happened since 0.7.2; didn't see it much for several patches before that).
I have little doubt, however, that there are plenty of people 'playing' the mid tiers this way. Hard to blame them; the only difference between that and skipping entire tanks through 'free' (LOL) exp is the latter costs money.
The intent is the same: don't play vehicles that are rendered a complete chore through my favourite friend the MM.

The one and only report I put in was for bot/AFK. When all but one of us had died, the vehicle became active (an SU-85 in a tier 5 battle armed with short 122mm). I checked their stats; 1,200 Lowe battles with a win rate of approximately 35%.
Sadly, the way it behaved had me conclude it was NOT a bot; that was rather depressing.

I do not know if bots are realy I have seen tanks I shoot that had not moved dtarted to move poorly after I hit them. I seen tanks doing odd things but some of this can be people who crashed or went AFK or just fell a sleep at the key board till the sound of rounds hit them wakes them up. I know for sure I was going full speed one time and crashed came back and was geting shoot by my own tema. seems I had cut them all off for no good reason and they shoot me. Told them I crashed and was not my fault but of well it happons. I am not sure why anyone would want a bot to fight for them thats the fun part about the game and if people are not going to play in the battles whats the point. Ohh and if there was bots I think you see or hear about the programs that run them has anyone did a serch for them? I think I try that later see if there any bots out there wont use them I do not need them I doing ok for my self and having fun.
