MVP Kamikaze!

philbytrilby's Photo philbytrilby Apr 21 2012

I have got kamikaze once in a couple of thousand battles, and that was by accident when someone ran into me in my t34, so almost impossible to qualify for this one.

I don't think an E-50 will win it. It's a tier 9, to get Kamikaze it would have to ram kill a tier 10 to death WHILE taking every kind of module damage ever. I guess your best hope is to get your kamikaze, find the enemy light tank and have them plink you, then get set on fire and hope you lose mroe modules than HP and your team doesn't lose.

Just missed this this morning by not getting the Kamikaze portion. Just as I was about to ram the tank the SPG decided to kill it first.... Ohh well.

going for it in my T-50, I cant earn enough to leave the lower tiers, even though I have tiers 6 an 7 unlocked :(.

do the module crits count if you repair them? if I get an ammo rack damaged and repair it, can I still get billotes if I take 4 crits after that?

I would think the KV-13 would be a good candidate for this.
It has really impressive armor for its speed, and is adequate for its tier.  With a bit of luck you can get steel wall and a kamikaze kill...along with being lit on fire near the end of the battle to knock out 5 modules.

This is just a comment, Gaea, but it feels like these MVP events are becoming less skill based, and more luck based.

Steel Wall and Bilottes especially are really sheer luck.
Steel wall is based on whether you run into a tank with a gun that can't get through your armor.
and Bilotte's... well it's almost exclusively based on getting set on fire along with getting multiple crit hits (tracks generally).

Things like Orlik's, Halonen's, Oskins can be skill based, but not Bilotte's.

The same could be said of the twice weekly all-stars though.  A winning entry is entirely contingent upon a rash early scouting run (1 point per spot vs 2 points per damaged/destroyed tank) even in tanks a normal player would never attempt such a thing with in normal gameplay.  It's a bit too much chance oriented for my taste.  But yea, the odds of this particular kamikaze/billotte's combo happening is just stratospherically low.  I wonder if crits caused by friendly fire count for billotte's...

It should have just had a lower prize and gave a giant mvp point boost to people that did manage it, which is how the scavenger hunts work I believe.

:Smile-hiding: Well, I had never gotten Bilottes out of all the battles I have been in.  A few Kamakazi's and steel walls for sure.  So for me, I managed to get Bilottes by pure luck and I happened to get a slew of other comendations on that battle.  It just happened to go perfect for me in my T29.  Problem is that I never got the kamakazi, I did ram and kill a SU100 (1 tier lower than me).  So I put in that battle with the hopes that no one else managed to get it all done and I hope that they let things like that go in then.  No harm in trying right.

Well i got closer than that. Best i did was kamikaze and steel wall in same battle.....  But  that was the closest i got.

The replay should be mandated for this contest.  Something tells me having a platoon-mate setting one's engine on fire was the preferred approach to getting billotte's.

Thanks for your input Kalis. I always try and make the MVPs very challenging and it it possible that I'm heading in the more "luck" based field. I'll be sure to remember this for the next MVP we create.

That would likely be the best way to win it... play all weekend and hope to get Kamikaze and Steel Wall locked in early...then get your tank lit on fire on purpose to get the crits.
I decided to not even try for it as I only have 3 Billotes in 8k or so battles.  I initially rebought a KV-13 to try for the challenge but missed my new crew skills too much in my other scout tanks so I didnt even play it more than a half dozen times.

To get Steel Wall while not being the top tier in the battle can be difficult, not only that but you need the speed and weight combo to ramkill a larger tier tank.  You also have to be higher tier to be able to take all the hits Steel Wall requires as well as leaving room to be lit on fire to receive the crits.  Im sure it would be difficult to ramkill a tier 9, but I'd have to say KV-5 was built for this contest...those things can actually get up and go.  The M4A3E2 would also be a good candidate...great front armor to get Steel Wall, crappy rear armor to get lit by a light tank...and decent speed to kamikaze with.

You really think that you were closer?  Kamikaze is ALOT easier to get than Billots.

So was anyone able to pull this challenge off?!  It was certainly one of the hardest I have seen; but the rewards were also quite high.

(i.e. for 20k gold it should be hard)

Yes, one player was able to pull it off! We're all pretty impressed ;)
