Do yourself a favour and save your gold. This has to be one of the biggest disappointments in WoT. No autoloader, no speed, hits like a tier 2, and is about as maneauverable as a T95 with a dead engine and driver. Average hits for 50-70hp using HE. AP in about 30 shots has yet to pen anything t5+.

They said it would not have an autoloader, they said it would not have the biggest gun.

Premium tanks =/= Buy to win tanks
They can compete, and they don't cost much to run.

You cant spend gold anyway... is a gift for supertesters
its in the game (beta) as 800 gold prem SPG... maybe beta testers get one for free once its released... I am testing it myself now.
it is kind of strange using AP shells on an arty.... but so far at tier it is decent. Yes it is slow, but has good turning speed and zoom in speed so I can have fun with it.

No, the French Arty is not the gift for the supertesters. There is another vehicle in the next update that is only available for supertesters.
From the Prelimiary list Version 7.3 Public Test #1 page:
"Added vehicles, available for supertesters only: Soviet heavy tank IS-6 (tier 8) and German TD JagdTiger 8.8cm KwK 43 L/71 (tier 8)."
"Added previously tested French premium vehicles: TD FCM 36 Pak 40 and SPG 10.5 сm leFH18 B2."

They are. The two low-tier premium French TD and SPG were gifts to Supertesters only during 7.2, BUT Overlord ensured that they will also be made available for public purchase (with gold of course) on this upcoming 7.3 patch. So don't worry, everyone can buy them with gold eventually, it's just that Supertesters get them for free and earlier than the rest of the players. Supertesters got them as gifts for their contribution to the testing of the game, but they are also tasked to test their balance before the two SPG and TD are released to public this coming patch.

And now my friend you see why the M7 Priest grind is such a pain in the butt. Besides its speed increase and extra gun traverse, it's basically the same tank as this. The 410 damage guns at tier 4 just suck honestly.
This uses the same gun as the Wespe if you're wondering.

Really? I think it's pretty great. My first battle with it I took out a Lorraine and a T34. I penned pretty much everything I shot, which was T29, T34, Lorraine, KV-3, and an enemy arty. It's got a pretty wide cone and has a lot of range too, so I think it's fantastic.

As someone who grind through M7 Priest, this french loaf is much better than the Priest. First of all,the shell trajectory is more predictable than the Priest. With the Priest, the shell can land anywhere within the circle and sometimes they are outside of the circle.
And the good all-around armor makes you immune to tier 4 scouts than you often match against. This is a solid tier 4 premium at making money. You might not getting a lot of kills but you will make tons of money.

Why is that thing French, anyway?
It's true that it's based off of a Char B1 hull, but that gun/tower arrangement was a German design. They needed a way to move the leFH18 field gun around quickly, so they stuck it on captured B1 tanks.

the french prem arty seems good, better than I expected based on damage but it looks like they reduced the armour skirt effects. and its pretty accurate and has decent range however its massive and slow so easy to kill. over all not bad.

Like mentioned in an earlier post, the shot prediction is pretty nice and it's reload isn't too shabby either. It carries a decent amount of rounds to boot. This is exactly what I would have predicted for a lower tier premium arty. I'll buy one on live just for the fun factor.

I think it will a good medium company arty, not as much damage as the Grille, but a bit better protected from scouts and a lot more ammo to fire off.
#18 Posted Apr 21 2012 - 18:39
I had fun with it, 8 sec reload time you can really spit the rounds out. I will not be buying it in the normal game since I refuse to give WG any more money after the French nerfing disaster with the 50B.

Keep in mind France was ruled by a puppet government after its defeat, and produced a large number of vehicles used by Germany.

Its not really a gift for the supertesters, its a not completely tested tank that will only be available for super testers to complete its testing.
This will not take place on the NA server however, as we do not want potentially unbalanced tanks on the NA retail server.

Tan.
