The Last Engine is only for the T-44, so would you want to get out of the T-44? Or stay in it and grind a little bit more XP for the T-54.

The Last Engine of the T-44 helps its Acceleration a lot.

Though getting the T-54 allows you to do more things aka more health and rarity of getting ammo racked. :)

But it is YOUR Choice though.

I was in your same position and chose engine. I regretted it about as much as I regretted breaking up with my girlfriend, and that was the second best descision I ever made.

If there is a small shred of yourself that thinks the  T-44 is a keeper for your garage... go for engine... that small amount makes it that much better.

That and I would say only go for the T-54 if you have a lot of gold to convert exp through most of the mods. If not, get the T-44's engine, because you'll go back to it, between grinding the T-54... assuming you like the T-44. (T9 stock mediums, like the T-54 are notorious for how bad the grinding can be, but I imagine this is common knowledge, if not, you've been warned)

The T-54 grind isn't so bad. Since you probably have the lb-1 coupled with a rammer and 90-100 crew you reload a shell every 5.72 seconds. That said while decent your low alpha and lack of good penetration cant hurt you a lot in long ranges. After you get the D-34 (am I right with the gun name?) grinding becomes a breeze and your win rate improves a lot. Also the first time you play the 54 with the 2nd turret you notice something incredible. You can bounce shells from any tank at the right angle.

It's the D-54 (so close :P)

The stock T-54 is NOWHERE NEAR as bad as it was when I got it. Now most people research the LB-1 on the T-44, so there is no need to spend that EXP earned on the 54 on the LB-1 so the grind is better. but honestly, even with my premium an Elite T-54 is expensive to run and i hardly ever make a profit (made 10k a week ago :)) but i8t is worth it as this tank is an absolute blast to play with. Whatever you decide, but I went for the 54 and never looked back (FYI - the ammo rack on my 54 hardly gets hit :P)

The engine really turns that tank into a beast. I hated the T-44 stock, but fully researched it's great fun and deadly with the LB-1. I wouldn't bother with the 122 mm cannon, it's just impractical and expensive. I did however vote to proceed to the T-54, reason being, it's such an awesome tank and you can play your t-44 or 54 if the other is locked in a battle, in case you died early. You'll save time by researching them in tandem. The T-44 is definitely a keeper. Good hunting.

I did the engine. If nothing else, it makes the 160K up to the T-54 go faster (both the tank, and the grind haha) But the full T-44 is a hella fun tank, once you have the big engine and the LB-1 long 100. I did eventually get my T-54 and sold the T-44 to get it, but didn't mind the grind at all. The T-44 is so much fun I kept playing it to research the stupid 122mm that I never even used, just to unlock everything and elite it so I could train up the crew some more.

I'll probably re-buy my T-44 at some point but for now I'm enjoying the T-54 too.

deck out the T44.  You'll be using it for a long time, might as well make it as good as possible.  This is a great tank when upgraded... its a katana on the battlefield.  If you are slow, you're food.

Stop at the t-44, upgrade it and DONT spend A dime on the tier 9 t-54 ...BIG DISSAPPOINTMENT!!!!
Its a waste of 2.9 million credits and the worst of the upper tier mids!!!

Go for the engine.

Combine it with the drive perk that gives better performance over mud and you'll become very, very annoying to fatties stuck on bad terrain.

It also pushes hills like a slightly pudgy scout.

The T-44 isn't quite what it used to be in beta (mostly due to creep) but the additional equipment buffs make it a very nice tank.
