I agree. Most platoons in real ife is over 15 tanks so why don't we have more then 3 people in a platoon. So I agree with this 5 Max in a platoon.
This is a video game. We don't have more than 3 to a platoon because it would unbalance the game even more. Every time MM matches up a team with two or more platoons VS a team with no platoons, victory goes to the team with platoons. They say that 90% of the time, platoons win every time.

Platoons already screw with matchmaking by taking the MM of the highest one and being forced to stuff in the other (two), which causes MM to have to compensate for the other team, and makes the team balance VERY messy
So no.
So no.

A good platoon of 3 can swing a battle. A platoon of 5 could have a 85% or better win rate. Plus some joke platoon would bring in 5 Tier 8 arty, yea that's gonna be fun for everyone else...... NOT. We do the countdowns.
Mostly you end up on opposite teams but occasionally on the same team. We find ourselves looking for our other platoon if they are on the other side. It's kind of fun playing mind games. Telling the other platoon when it's time to punch off that you are bringing 3 tier 8s and you show up with 2 9s and an 8

So why not a platoon only battle mode? Increase size of platoons in that battle mode to a hard 5 (as in you can not enter the mode with less than 5), pair 3 platoons per side together... boom. Done.

As it is currently, if there is a 3 man platoon with 3 very good players, they have the ability to deal out half of the damage done in a match, and can sometimes do more. With more in a platoon, the results can be a roll in pub matches. I have seen this with countdowns as well (multiple platoons of the same clan on one side of a match). Given the skill level of most players on the servers, 5 person platoons could easily dominate, and run off bad players (who are paying customers) because of the frustration. With this being known, I can understand why WG will not have larger platoons. Do I want larger platoons? Heck yes I do. If it thins the herd, so be it IMHO, but money talks...

Ban platoons altogether...OR, better yet, get rid of the tank company option that nobody ever uses and make that platoon games only.

if it is a platoon of good players they are going to dominate far to much, if it is a platoon of 39% players (umm like the OP, no wonder you do not think it will not make much odds) then it is going to be a nightmare for the team they are on. It is just a bad idea no matter how you look at it

I think a 5 man platoon only becomes viable if they bump the pub game brackets up to 25 or 30 per side. 4 man platoons would be nice but it probably makes it slightly more difficult to balance a 15 person pub game (worth noting it also breaks the factor of 15). I can appreciate the balance concerns adding just one more person to an organized team.
What might be cool however are dedicated 5v5 or 10v10 ranked ladder matches. Then you could have your own platoon "team" (with alternates) and dump yourself into the ladder queue when you wanted something more than 3 man pub games.
Unfortunately, the 4-5 person group of friends is in a blind spot. You either hang out waiting on public company matches or you split into 3/2 platoons and try to sync queue.
