My clan is having Clan Wars in 30 secs and I asked them what they thought about this: Spectator Mode. You should be able to watch your clanmates fight during the battle even if ur not participating in it. They all think its a good idea and I think so too. It would be great for that to be possible.

I have thought the same thing on a number of occasions. I like the idea, note sure if the server could handle it.

The server should have no problem allowing a few observers since they arnt interacting or anything... if you cap it at 3 on the low and 5 per side on the high, I was assume it would be fine on the server side of things. Aside form Potential server side issues I cant think of any reason why this is not a good idea, it would be an excellent training tool.

It would require them to develop the client-side and server-side system for application/invitation to spectate, approval from clan leaders, and non-players joining a game. All for a benefit to players which is, arguably, entirely redundant with a saved replay.

it would be nice if ths idea would be implemented... Seeing your clanmates fight will let you see how things are working during the fight and learn from it..
i know it's possible.

We need this. I work four nights a week and while I can monitor the battle through one of my soldiers twitch.tv channel there is a lag and I can't call comms. Now this is one of those updates that would really make a difference in clan wars I think.

It is possible and should be very easy to do since they already have post mortem mode spectating.

just no talking or pinging from those players as that would be an unfair advantage to a clan who had observers vs a clan that did not.
Not that it matters with voice coms but still.. I can see some clans using t he 3 extras to spam crap at the enemy the whole match....

you can already livestream matches if you want the rest of the clan to watch, the stream wont be as high quality as playing though. it is useful to let people not in the match see strats play out. obviously an ingame spectator mode would preferred, if it ever happens.

well if Spectator Mode could be possible then I would hope they keep ( Spectator only ) no participation from spectators as that would simply cause more harm then good...
Team Speak, Ventrillo or what ever Voice chat programs the clan uses, then they can participated through voice comms to help
I love the idea....+ 1

This would be simple to implement… Any tankers on the reserve team automatically get taken into the battle in post-mortem mode.

Wouldn't it make it rather unfair to use during matches? As some people could provide information to the rest of their team members through other means. While yes both teams have access to this, it kind of takes away from the gameplay as it is, and is somewhat unfair to smaller clans who don't have as many eyes.
That said, I think a free camera spectator mode, that could be used through the replay system would be nice, while you wouldn't be able to see the matches live, you'd be able to get a much better view afterward, to possibly help those players who teach other players, or allow for a better review of gameplay.
It would also be really nice for those players who also want to cast games, on like a youtube channel or something, and would like to be able to do it without being limited to the camera being fixed to a tank.

I asked about this about a year ago. The answer from the devs was they would love to do it but it would be too resource intensive. I suspect battle replays is their compromise.
