Kills -V- Damage -V- Survival -V- Win

Code4's Photo Code4 Apr 28 2012

In the endless grind to get experience points which is better to do.

Get a kill and survive the match ?
Damage a heap of enemy, kill no one and survive ?
Kill a few, get killed and it doesn't matter ... win or lose ?
etc ....

Damage is all that matters. Kill give microscopic reward that is not worthy of effort, better do full damage on other tank than finish almost dead.

Victory of course is good as it gives you about +50%.

Defeat with five destroyed enemies > Victory without doing anything. After all 0*150% = 0.

Read the World of Tanks Wiki "Battle Mechanics" section please? Think they properly explain that concept pretty well. :)

Just stealing kills gives you less reward than Doing damage. Doing more damage in a battle than getting kills and surviving is more important than getting kills with little damage and surviving or dying. More Dmg per battle leads to higher exp in matches receives ;) GL HF

on the WoT Wiki ther is a mechanic explained..  but for my own  experience its:

damage >>>>>  everything else
because kill  means nothing (the bonus per kill its crap unless u  deal the 90% of the damage)  also  kill mean  nothing (this isnt CoD  <_< )

for the scout rush, spot and die  will be a VERY fail  scout,  because the main experience  u  get per damage (but for the scout the exp  mechanic works  this way)
if u spot X enemies ans they got hit by your allies  u get the same amount od exp as you hit them  directly (or something like that  :Smile-hiding: )
so  staing alive spoting while allies shoting  its a very  useful and  great scout  :Smile_great:

From a team standpoint, you want to kill everything that may cause you to lose. You don't want a heavily damaged tank still able to fire on you or your teammates. One less gun shooting at you or teammates = better chance of winning.

I place survival lowest on that list, as my stats show. I like to do a lot of damage as damage is what kills enemies, but given a choice between doing full damage (and earning lots of XP/credits) for shooting an enemy at high HP or "wasting" a shell on one at low HP, I will opt to take out the low HP guy first every time just to get one more gun off the field. Of course, if I am close enough , I will ram-kill the low HP guy and shot the high HP guy anyways... The fewer surviving enemies there are, the higher our chances of victory.

Note that I have regularly exceeded 500XP and 10k credits in a Tier 4 with a non-premium account even on a loss where I died 3 minutes in. Note also that the rare battles I survive often result in fewer kills and less damage. I am not yet good enough to get 8 kills and do 10 timed my HP in damage and survive; I've only done that once. But if I get 3-4 kills and do triple my HP in damage, I have already done more to increase our chanced at victory than most of my teammates usually do, definitely pulled my weight, and will get decent rewards even on a loss.

If you do enough damage, the kills will follow even if it's one of your teammates that gets the final shot.
I don't kill for bragging rights or anything, I kill to win.
Therefore, do enough damage (in the right places) and victory follows.

So I would say damage first, then kills second, and survival last; I do not worry about winning.

The most important thing really depends on the situation you are in more than the actual battle mechanics.  If we are talking about XP or Credits then obviously you want to do a lot of damage, get a high hit percentage, and avoid taking as much damage as possible.  This does not actually guarantee a win though.

When you are in a tank battle with multiple tanks you want to kill off any tanks you can to avoid getting swarmed.  In this situation your credit and xp potential is going to be a lot better if you can get the easy kills taken care of before they damage you too much.  You need to always remember a tank with 1hp is just as dangerous as a tank with 100% hp if you leave them alone.

I had less than 25% of my HP a few days ago on my T110E5 and managed to take 6 tanks and nearly a 7th with me before I ended up being taken out by a lucky shot... had they have taken me out with a single shot prior to me being the last alive they would have all been better off... in fact I almost won the entire game alone with around 400hp.

If you are with a group of tanks the best way to deal with it is to hit tanks you can get your full damage on, whatever that may be, and let tanks with smaller guns mop up the kills.  If they have less than 100 HP you may be able to just get away with ramming them to avoid wasting an expensive shell as well... plus it is fun.

Damage is all important for XP and credits.  Survival is important because you can only hurt people as long as you can still shoot them.  Kills are only good for stats and bragging rights.

damage for money and experience

kills for medals

but remember that a tank with 1% remaining can still kill a teammate

so finish them off when you can.

Winning is the best thing you can do for experience in the long term.  You have to buy into it because at times you will get less experience on a game to game basis.  Sometimes you have to sacrifice for the good of all.

A quote from Jerry McGuire "Help me to help you!"  Teamwork is most vital to winning.

So Teamwork = winning = EXPERIENCE!

Throw out personal gain to gain the most experience.

I always wondered about this, I thought there was probably some strategy to get as many tanks in battle at a time as possible, and hope that at least half of them produce wins.

in a pub, you should always try to KILL a tank first and foremost

the quicker the enemy numbers diminish, the lower their morale, the easier they are to crush. Your chances of survival go up, your shots per battle go up, you end the match quicker, and you get to play more games per hour.

unless of course you're communicating with a team and know for a FACT that someone is going to finish off this or that tank
