So, after grinding my KV-3, I now have enough xp to get the IS. Should I get the IS or wait and keep grinding to get the new KV-4? Any thoughts?

I suggest you shouldn't wait. Patch 7.3 is supposed to come out this month and you better grind yourself hard up to that IS-4. x3

Forget about the KV4. Its one great attribute got neutered. The top speed (only attainable going downhill, for a bood bit) got nerfed to 30 kph.



Apparently fun wasn't what they were going for with it.

I think you should get the IS now, then the KV-4 later, and have both since they will be in separated lines.

Research the IS now, and continue grinding to the KV-4. That way you can play the KV-4 when the patch hits, and if you want to go down the IS-7 line you don't have to grind the KV-1S.

Get ready to have your bubble busted with the IS.  It stinks to high heaven.  I always do much better in my KV-3, for pete sake.  I am just grindng the IS and trying
to keep my temper in check.  
It did do one thing, on the NA Server that I did not expect, though.  I face hugged a Ferdinand and survived, in my IS.  I took him down to 26% and a T/Mate, in a
T29 finished him.   I kept him tied up so he could not harras the rest of the team.

I love my IS. It's wonderful with a 100% crew and the good 122, particularly on the smaller maps where your accuracy deficit isn't a problem. Aside from the occasional Hull Down T29/32, you can handle most tanks up to T8.

I like it so far but I managed to get all down syndrome teammates that die within the first 5-7 minutes. It's a fustrating tier and also the fact that alot of tanks like to key in on you. I'd save the xp on KV-3 and wait for the patch. You only need 53k to unlock KV-4 and that's a tier 8. That's assuming you already researched all the modules on KV-3 except for IS.

On second thought, why not unlock the IS and then save enough xp to unlock KV-4 on release? I think you still have a week or so until 7.3 goes live on NA server.

I suggest that even if you do want the IS-4 (And I don't see why you would, since in 7.3 the only advantage it has over the IS-7 is 8 more pen and a better rear armor), you should grind out the IS-8 first. That makes sure that your ST-I does not start out with the D25T stock. Believe me, if you ever did the T34 stock grind, this thing is like the T34's alter ego, except for that the pen is 25 less guarantee that even tier 8s would destroy u...

It depends. If you really want the IS, or the IS-3, research it now, because it'll only be available on the KV-1S.

If not, save for the KV-4.

Besides, with the upgrades the KV-3 is getting, you don't even need the IS anyway.

The KV-3 will receive:
Two new radios - the 12RT and the R113 (which is not available on the IS);
An 850 HP engine;
A hitpoint boost to 1,300 (50 more than the IS).;
The D-25T 122mm gun.

So the IS is now obelete.

I will also point out that KV-3 WILL ROFL spank any tier 7 heavy. Its definitely the bully again

The KV-4 has a great gun, but the armor is only good against tier 7 and lower, tier 8s and up will pen you most of the time and your maneuverability worse than a dead fetus. The gun is pretty nice though...
