Can someone please post the current IP address of the SEA server for PingPlotter testing.

I last tested this when it launched, I normally get 250-300 ping on NA server, with TPG ADSL2+ in Canberra (east coast australia). Connecting to the SEA server previously has seen my ping shoot up to 400+, and old pingplotter traces showed the traffic being routed to the USA first then back across to ASIA to hit the server (which explained the ping times!!).

When I tried to test recently though I noticed the old IP addres is 100% unreachable these days as others posted in this thread I see, so I need the correct IP address to do some up to date ping plotter tests and then I will post results here for those interested.

This is the new address: login.worldoftanks-sea.com

From Malaysia I still get routed to Hong Kong before making a return trip to Singapore, but it doesn't go to the US anymore. Ping times for me are around 50ms in the mornings but jumps up to 150ms in the evenings, though it's still a major improvement over the 300ms I get connecting to NA server.

Thanks, i'll run some tests on that now and report back! Domain name resolves to: 27.111.213.147 for reference.

Running pingplotter free to that domain name with 5 sec trace delay and 10,000 stats included, so far its getting amazingly good pings, will run it for 30 mins or so then post the graph.

Well, colour me impressed, the results are fairly amazing compared to previous tests.

First of all let me say this is with TPG ADSL2+ connected fairly close to exchange on the local loop, and TPG traditionally have the best traffic routes and ping times of all ISP's in Australia, so it would appear that since my eariler tests the routes have been dramatically altered in different routing tables resulting in what now is an excellent ping to the SEA server. I saw a couple of minor spikes but nothing serious, see for yourselves below. I will now try and get a bunch of clan mates to test as well and see if I can bring back some group results that give us a better overall picture.

Hey Seal,

I've been playing a bit on the SEA server and my pings are down to around 130.

Has been around 2000 players online at around 2000hrs EST.

Wait time have been pretty quick for me but then I am using the KV-220.

If the population gets much bigger I may tranfer over.

The ping issue has definatly left the SEA server for the time anyway.

If Australians are looking for clans see AAR.

My ping is still at least 100 better than it is on NA server, I just hope when it comes time to transfer account over I can merge both...

Funny thing about ping. My ping on the EU server is exactly the same as the NA server, about 300-350, but zero lag...and that was with 48,000 people online

The EU server has probably the best server setup for Australians. It's hilarious.

The SEA and US server setups seem to allow packet loss and the route is horrific. With the EU, the server is very stable (little packet loss, stable ping), only goes down once a week etc. etc. (I played on it for about a year).
Only problem is that everything there is for Europeans, who are awake when we are asleep.

I might just open another account there, all my Buds are on the NA Server, once you transfer theres no turning back old mate.
I'll check it out on my days off (Thur Fri)

That is true. That is one reason why I will wait to see if the pop grows to a healthy level.

But I must say playing with 130 ping is sooo much better. Less need to lead the target and very little lag deaths.

Seal, you should have saved the SEA server client to a different location than the WoT folder mate. Hopefully it doesn't over-ride the NA server client or you'll be DL again.

I hate to tell you but you needed to save it into a different folder, as they are different versions of the game, if your aussie come and join the clan AAR. :)

You can always just download the NA version again and install in a different folder, your data is still there!

Back to the ping thing - it has nothing to do with lag anyway. I normally had ping of 100 but getting heaps of lag. On NA i get ping of 300 but no lag.

LOL I am in Buku trouble, I even did a System restore & I can only get the SEA Client, getting a bud to copy & mail me his NA Launcher to see it that works, I noticed all the Sea 7.2 & NA 7.3 files are mixed together, you never know lol.

If it doesn't work, I'll wipe the lot & start the DL again but into different folders DOH!

On SEA I'm up to level 4 of the Tut, YAWN, never been so bored in my life but I do enjoy the great ping & smooth game play.

Anyone on, save me as a Friend before I start googling Noose out of boredom!

Out of interest, how do you guys find the language/cultural issue on SEA? Is it only 'tolerable' simply because of the ping improvement, or do you actually not mind the difference?

Honestly for me at the moment, I have no problems with it. If anything, it feels more relaxed over there.

Out of the games I have been in there has been very little chit chat in game and I don't visit the general chat channel the same way that I don't visit it on the NA server either.

No more language differences than what we already see on NA. In fact far less IMO

There is in fact a considerably larger proportion of players who can't converse in English than I would find in NA but I don't mind the language barrier much. Culturally however (and speaking as a native who's non AU/NZ) there's a tendency to spam the chat, both in-game and in general chat... though it's something I had already anticipated and I'm practically certain is only going to get worse as the population grows, even with moderators keeping watch (SEA mods are a bit more lenient than NA mods IMO, not saying I endorse or reject either teams).

Play style is also markedly different, there's a bigger tendency for lemmings and camping but since many players are still newbies I'm hoping it would gradually change as they become more experienced and more versed in game mechanics. Highly vindictive players are also slightly more frequently encountered, friendly fire issues frequently gets blown out of proportion. Again, I just hope the community matures over time but I'm not so sure about the vindictive part. A strong point I think is that players are a lot more eager in helping one another understand the game better (though with more newbies than veterans, quite a lot of false information gets bandied about). Hopefully that characteristic will remain as the player base grows.
