KV5 is definitely powerful in the right hands & in the right circumstances.


But I've been playing the Type 59 now and I gotta say it proves that the whole 'premium has to be inferior to a normal tank' thing is rubbish.
If Type 59 can be that good then we should be allowed to have the long 107 and R2D2 removed from the hitbox. I'll settle for one or the other though.

KV5 would be broken with the long 107mm lol. Personally I think it should have the option of mounting a D10T varient (T59s gun) or the DERP off the SU 152 (as KV-2s derp but reloads twice as fast).

If Type 59 can have the gun its got then I see no reason for KV5 to not get a ~200 pen gun too.

The Type 59 has a pretty bad gun. Its not terrible, but its still the worst gun of the T8 meds. Same with the KV's 107.

Type 59s gun is only very slightly worse than the other meds.  Its very near the same gun as the t44 in fact losing a tiny bit of accuracy and a minute amount of RoF.

KV5's gun on the other hand is two tiers worse than its peers.  THAT is a huge difference.  And KV5 should make up that difference in armor(its not that mobile after all)doesn't because of its many easy to hit weakpoints.  Even the ones who somehow hide the R2D2 most of the time still have the swollen commander hatch to worry about.

It's amusing that people judge a tank because the bulk of the people who play it are noobs. It is a poor musician who blames his instrument. The KV-5 purpose is to make credits which it does vary easily. If you want a competitive tank you chose a regular tier 8. If you want to make money you chose a tier 8 premium. The 107mm does in fact have better DPS than the T32 and VK4502A at the cost of penetration. It also has the best armour for a tier 8 apart from the R2D2. It is somewhat slow but the thing weight 105 t and can go downhill at 40km/h. Unless you are a Maus or a E-100 you will take a beating from getting rammed at full speed. A good player like myself will do just as well as if I were in another tier 8 heavy.

Those who say it's bad are probably the same noobs as the ones that pick on the PzJgIV and T25/2. It's all in the driver.

KV-5 is lemon, I have one and hate it, They are a let down on any team and seeing them on your team (talking to myself as well) you know it's going to be a hard battle to win.

i crashed loading my lowe into lakeville once..

when i got into the map i'm on the south base with a kv5 beating on me, as he had come straight down the middle...

Needless to say i was pissed..  when i drew up on him and went WHAMMO!  you could have seen the OH $h!T  look on his face as he quickly threw in reverse frantically trying to back up to cover...

I put my foot down and continued on into his face drilling the snot outta him..   despite him having bout 2 or more free shots to start with on me, i tore him a new gun port in his tank before he esploded..    shame that was long before replays as it would be something of precious quality to watch every now and then.    

team was a lil wow WTG man after i turned him into a burning wreck..  the banter bout crashing and loading in was quite nice too..  

just dont ever take AFK's for granted..   they do have a bad habit of waking up on ya when ya least expect it.

Yeah, the Zis24 would be too much.

I would actually be reaaaaallllly happy to get the D-25S from the (I)SU-152 mounted on my KV-5. That would be in line with the KV-5's high-DPM, low-Pen setup. The D10T would be a step backwards as it would reduce DPM and the Derp is entirely the wrong kind of gun for the KV-5, not to mention that it would also reduce DPM.

I hate to fight aganst a K-5. Even with that huge weak spot they take forever to die, and is not like they gonna stay there watchin' you hit them. I rather face a Lowe than a KV-5 at any time.

Now, if the KV-5 is on my team, I like them. They're good meatshileds and distractors while I flank them with my Chaffee and stick some shells up their butts

You see this wrong. The 107 is it's main perk. Yes, it's doesn't have the pen to hit on enemies strongest armor, but it fires fast and is accurate. The Kv5 easily kill a Lowe or a T34 in close to medium range combat, and the R2 is both a weakness and a perk. Why i say a perk? Because while they aim at it, they don't damage any important modules or crew (besides the radioman). Taking damage isn't a big concern for the KV5 so long as you murder your foes faster than they can hurt you...
