I have the 128mm gun on the ferdinand and sometimes this thing bounces off the Tiger P's turret at about 10 meters, this has happened frequently. Last time it happened i was on the defensive side of Lakeville, Base 1, and i was guarding the hill pass. Then this Tiger P and t32 storm through and im thinking ''its ok, no problem here''. But then the Tiger P tries to ram me and i shoot directly at his turret to the right side of the gun ...''that one bounced!''. So i reload again and aim at the left side of the turret...''ricochet!''. He didnt damage me but it was frustrating to bounce 2 shots at point blank range from a tier 10 gun on a Tiger's turret. I emphasize, the tiger P was directly in front of me.

the very effective, very invisible, RICO-SHIELD!, thats right folks, install this hidden upgrade from the future on your tank, and any hit you take on your tank point blank will dink! that pesky maus shooting your wittle bitty t1 cunni? not a problem with RICO-SHIELD!

Happened to me all the time in my is3, is4, and once even in my Hummel. Sometimes, I wonder if the paper stats for the 100mm of frontal turret armor on the tiger P was a typo.

I LOVE my Tiger P just for that reason! 200mm of frontal armor and the right angle will bounce ALOT of shots. I have a great vid showing how to take out a ferdi with a tiger p head to head but dont know how to post it:(

There are parts of the Tiger P turret that are over 300mm of armor. Maybe just bad luck? Sometimes RNG just likes to troll you. I bounced a 152 mm HE shell from a KV off my T-50 once XD. He was PISSED. I still don't know how though...I though HE doesn't bounce.

It's a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers. ...

I don't know the answer, but all I know is it is a poor game mechanic no matter how you look at it.
Its not a poor game mechanic. Its just not listing the mantlet in the frontal turret armor. There are also some tanks where the listed frontal turret armor is the mantlet, and fails to account for the steel sitting behind that.
Its even more pointless to fix this display issue since the tanks now have 16 armor groups. Displaying front/side/rear armor ratings don't really tell you anything about the effective protection the front, sides and rear have. E-100 has 200mm of heavily sloped upper glacis protecting it, its listed stats make no mention of the garage door sized lower glacis that is shall we say, weaker.

90% sure you shot the mantlet. Generally most tanks around the base of their gun have these massive 'shields' (or sometimes small) that are extremely thick pieces of metal, and sometimes at ridiculous angles.
Shooting these curved, heavily armoured pieces can cause most weapons to bounce. For 'flat' faced german tanks. Shoot away from the center for better effect.
It's not, because I've used 130mm pen guns to penetrate the front of the Tiger P's turret armour (the only weak spot for that low of pen). It's just a little bit of skill to land it where there's not mantlet on the flat armour. Also being able to see where your shot hit (tracers) helps wave off any superstitions.

i've read a couple of things on the forums about this: first, the mantle area has spaced armour making it tough , also that if you angle the gun up or down it really makes that area bouncey. One person recommends pointing the gun up to the sky while reloading, for the extra benefit.

It rammed me and all i could see was his turret, those areas are the ones i shot.
Oh well, i guess its just another rare occurrence.
Thanks for your answers

I´ve loose 8 games (survaving 3) in a row with my Tiger P, and 3 critical hits by some Big Gun Ferdi in 3 different matches...I think my Tiger P is not even the shadow of the true tank...or I´m not playing very well my kitty...

the pen on that gun can also go as low as 185mm, and I'm pretty sure that the mantlet plus the turret armor on the Tiger turret is around 200mm
