Scratching when its a hit

This is a slight glitch that has happened to me twice now. When I'm fighting close quarters where I can actually see the holes I make in the enemy tanks, I would shoot a weak spot and I would see a hole appear where I obviously shot, but there's no damage and the Commander would yell, "We just scratch them". Is there anything you can do?
One of the Incidents was in the M26 Pershing with the 90mm M3 and I flanked a T29 and when I fired, a hole appeared on the right side of its right-hand side view finder if you are looking with the tank, (one of the weakest areas of the turret). The other incident was the same tank and gun against
an IS-3. It hit its left-hand side armor, (now facing that side) in the middle of the area above the tracks.
Also If you tell me the best way to capture it on video (what system I could use) for when its happens again that would be helpful for me and you all.

Get used to it. There are some problems in this game that is just one of them.

Most likely, that part of the armor was spaced armor. (Meaning there's at least another piece of armor behind it) So with that in mind, you most likely penetrated the first layer but failed the penetrate the second thus preventing you from dealing any damage.

It's not a glitch, it's intended. If you have the replay, that would be what really helped, since you didn't mention what tank/gun/tier you were in or shooting, no one has any idea what to tell you.
