Hello tankers,

Last night, I finally unlocked the AMX 50-120.  Not to infer the 50-100 is a bad tank, I was relieved to sell it, non the less.

Like most tier nine tanks; the 50-120 starts off with little to offer, at the get go.  Luckily, the first suspension has the capacity to maintain the 100mm gun and three pieces of equipment... only just.  With the help of some free xp, I nabbed the new tracks.  Leaving my at the foot of a 60k or so xp climb to the promised land(the very 120mm gun for which this tank is named).  I noticed the reload time, thankfully has dropped from just above 47 seconds per drum to a much more agreeable 33.5ish on this new, big-headed platform.

My questions are; How hard is the above described, xp climb?  Should I stop off along the way for the engine?  How many seconds does the 120mm's four round drum take to reload?  How many seconds between shots?  Finally, in it's ultimate form, will I really enjoy this tank?  Or have the nerfs completely devastated the fun factor?

Thanks,
super

XP grind on the AMX 120 was not hard, at least for me. I really enjoy(ed) their play style. Since the nerf they aren't as fun, but I still think the 120 is a good tank.

I did end up getting the engine and it does help quite a bit over the stock.

The 120mm reloads in about the same time as the 100mm.

Interval in between shots is 3.33 seconds.

As I mentioned, the nerfs did affect it, but I still believe it is a good tank. The gun elevation/depression is horrible however and takes some getting used to.

I always knew the depressing was deplorable ... but it was only last night I noticed just how bad the elevation was... it was likely due to being placed in games on providence where I was unable to fire on my upward opponents.

Thanks for the insight, plus one, man.

I think it's still a capable tank given the right situation, which you may or may not be able to get yourself into given the map and/or your team which you are 'intended' to support with it. I'll post what I think is a decent replay when I get home.

... 10 hours... two replys.  Not just here either... Why is the traffic so low in the French forums?

Let's see that replay.

Make of it what you will.

Opportunity seems to be the key to success with the 50 120. Unfortunately I'm not very good at positioning myself to find those opportunities, but it happens once in a while.

If the other team decides that you're not a priority target, your struggle is already half won.

I love the play style of the French tanks.  I just unlocked the 120 for mine.  Reload is same, hits harder but only 4 rounds to play with. The engine made a big difference.  Instead of 20-30kph, you get 35-45kph and 65 down hill.  As for the 100, it worked just as it was intended too.  6 shots at an average of 300 points of damage. That's 1800 if you don't bounce.  120 is an average 400 per shot.  That's 1600 if you don't bounce. So it's up to the player really.

120 is awesome never played it prior to nerf but in the 60 games so far I have a 70% win rate almost 100 kills 100mm is pretty good at the start 120 mm only has 4 rounds per drum so takes getting use to. your shots have to count and you will be reloading alot. Still love it though
