game/server stability

While it hasn't been more then an annoyance before today... its now a major issue for me.

Before today I noticed that the game icon would disappear from the icon bar at the bottom of the window (windowed mode) and I would miss less then a second of game play.

Today its much worse. What it has started to do is that but it keeps on happening without stoping. I get the windows 7 loading graphic for the cursor and I see (not responding) beside WoT at the top left of the window. The not responding comes and goes every second.

Several other ppl ingame have also said they have been getting lag issues when they normally don't. My ping is normally 30ish but has been spiking to 100 for some unknown reason.

I feel for you , i started getting some lag issues after the player count went above 24,000. Had a couple losses where my teams were having lag issue and the other team's players said they were fine. Hard to fight when you can't control your tank.

Was getting 61 fps and ping was staying under 100ms.

Well that was interesting. This time when the Issue happend again I right clicked on the game icon and selected "close window" the issue stopped but my ping was at 999 and nothing was happening. Turns out while the issue had been happening I got killed.

heres my dxdiag if it helps.

Can you describe in detail the issue you are having? Are you using the WorldofTanks.exe or launcher to start the game? Does the problem happen in fullscreen mode? Are you getting any crashes, Windows error messages or ingame errors?

Can you type the following in Command-Prompt:
pathping login-master.worldoftanks.com
It will do a trace route and ping the routers for a few minutes. Wait for it to finish and copy the results here.

Also what type of connection? (Cable, DSL, Other)

Router or direct-connection? (or some other type like tether or ad-hoc)

Have you ever edited the hosts file located at %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts or set static DHCP/DNS settings?

Hosts file should look like this when you open it in notepad (If you have UAC on, you need to run notepad as-administrator first, then select file>open and browse to the folder the hosts file is in to save any changes):
Spoiler

If there are any entires listed below the lines with # in front of them, delete them then save the file.

I am using the launcher as it is the shortcut icon the installer put on the desktop. I am playing the game in window mode. No crashes or windows errors while playing.

Cable from rogers. Connecting using a router/modem combination unit. I have never edited any of the files.

I followed some advice from a friend and reinstalled the game. Haven't had the issue yet but its only been 2 matches. The game is choppier now then it was before. It doesn't seem to matter if my fps is 100 or 60.

ok, at this point I'm thinking its 1 of 3 things. The server hates my guts as my ping was spiking upto 500 and beyond. Someone is tapping into my connection and drainning my bandwidth or the I am having a hardware failure is some kind.

Did a full defrag last night too...

I believe Norton360 has it's own firewall, so if you are using that, you should turn off Windows Firewall. To turn it off, follow the steps below:
  • Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button http://res2.windows....2a2fd33_818.jpg, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type firewall, and then click WindowsFirewall.
  • Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off. http://res2.windows....a75bf05b_48.jpg If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  • Click Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) under each network location that you want to stop trying to protect, and then click OK.

The pathping timed out at the first hop so that's not a good sign. If you disabled Windows Firewall, try running the test again (or hop on WoT) to see if you get a different result. If it does the same thing again, try eliminating the router by directly connecting your computer to the modem. Make sure to power-cycle the modem, then try the pathping (or WoT) again.

Well I have been playing the game fine for the last 2 hours... Problem just have been server/ips related. We'll see in the morning.

Well it seems that the issue I was having was memory related. Reset my computer last night after playing all day and have had no problems.
