Just had a game with a stat dude quoting s...

TiMMyS_LiPs's Photo TiMMyS_LiPs May 06 2012

IS7 was our highest tank (he was our only tier 10), guy in a lowe shouts out something like..."we're screwed, our is7 is only 44% win :("

I told the guy, that stat gathering in an online video game was about as dorky as you can get, and to just play the damn game already. No one in this cosmos or the next, gives two @#$@'s about your silly percentages.

Our game ended 12 to 6 when we flag capped (we were winning big time.  IS7 had 5 kills and rocked.)

Moral of the story:

Gathering stats is all fine and good, but don't obsess over it to the point you're gonna demoralize yourself and lose the game because you've already psyched yourself out of a win (cause really; CNN isnt gonna cover ur tank battle stats )...Just play the fricken game and have fun ;)

Stats are a representation of one's overall skill level, and with sufficient sample size, luck doesn't play a factor anymore. Winrate is only part of the whole package of stats that shows a person's skill level and gives clues about his playstyle too, therefore don't judge someone based purely on their win rate.

That in mind, a single battle is exactly that: a single battle. Luck can play a significant factor in determining the outcome of a single battle, and the law of averages dictates that even the suckiest player will from time to time get lucky.

In the end, any stat-mongering anyone does all comes down to sample-size. And a single battle does not a significant datapool represent.

I have the lastest xvm mod myself. I'll tell others in my platoon what we have or are facing, but that's about it. I had a battle on Redshire yesterday in high tiers where the mod said we had a 40% chance of a win. We won. I told my team about it at the end of the battle, and they though it was pretty cool.

yea then im sure in the next battle, there willbe 4 T9 artys that the dude is against, he will see a shiny M6 around a corner and chase after it, getting killed in about .6 seconds after coming around a corner by arty.

The stats dont lie.

Stats are fine, but I for one don't want to know my teams.  Only in hindsight would it be funny to know the crap you have won with.  All you need is the minimap to know your chances, it only takes a minute or two.

Your mistake.....you bothered to reply.
Ignore the stat junkies, as they say there are lies, bullshit and stats.
I only run with a 52% win ratio....a lot of that was (and is) that i didn't actually bother to to properly play until my KT, and i still go back and play a lot of lower/mid tier games that can screw ya %....ignore them.

The problem with the stats is that while 44% is unreasonably low, and that player is probably generally poor, if you give those bad players support, you can still win. A 44% win rate still means that he, I don't know, wins 44% of the time. This is just regarding pubs though, I wouldn't be okay with those kinds of stats and I don't think they would be useful in a competitive setting outright because they'd require so much work.
