No way! Who would've thought that just changing an abbreviation would affect the game so much! Oh wait, it doesn't.

No offense intended, but I'm just saying, even though that's a good point, does it make much of a difference?

Why cant a tank destroyer have a tank gun? Fixed gun emplacments can. Ships can.

one of the biggest selling points of the game is "get in a WW2 era tank and drive it around"

realistic looking tanks and names is a part of the allure. Anyone who knows much about German tanks and weapons will know the difference between KwK and PaK, and to them it *is* a big deal.


However, in this case, I feel like it was just a typo. As we've seen before, whoever is translating these things from Russians is probably often in a hurry and sometimes makes mistakes, like we all do.

No offense, but it was discussed few times previously, and its name would be changed after the release as it seems that WG is well aware of it.

A tank destroyer can't have a tank gun becuase it's a Tank Destroyer.Not a tank. Duh :D

Thats just a name. Anyway, can the gun on a tank not destroy another tank?

btw according to a removed russian tankopeida page
the gun will be released in "Ausfuhrung A" version
that means even u buy this tank, u cannot unlock the regular PaK / KwK 43 L/71
also the radio will be FuG7A with 710m signal range, and not compatible with the regular FuG7

Thus, it is also a tank destroyer

the military loves proper designations

tank destroyers get anti-tank weapons

tanks get tank guns

there's a difference, but it's not very obvious in this game, since all we do in this game is fight other tanks and SPGs

The difference is in the fact that PaK guns in this game seem to have better accuracy, aim time and ROF than KwK guns. That's all. I'm sure the stats of the gun won't change based on what the devs call it but be based completely on gameplay balance, but, however minor, it's still a mistake: the gun should be labeled PaK rather than KwK.

Yup, went back and looked. The JagdPanther uses that exact cannon, and its labelled PaK 43. It will most likely be fixed. :Smile_honoring:

And that change what? Should all tank be forced to use the same radio set now? My soviet radio works just fine with american radios and german radios so a different set will not make any difference. For all I know, they put a FuG7A on it so people cannot get the FuG7 researched for "free" by buying the new TD. I understand wanting to correct the misstake on the PaK gun but the radio definately has a reason to be different in game.

I'd wait and see when the patch goes live bets are the translator just got in a hurry and didn't properly double cheak their work.

Of course, in real life, German tanks and TDs often mounted the same guns, with the difference being just in the name and maybe the mount.
