Get it and find out. It's hard to tell people whether they will like a tank or not. I don't know how you play, what you like. There are tanks other players wouldn't touch that I love.

My experience on the test server was that it was really cool with 50 kmph top speed for down hill ramming novelty but with the nerf down to 30 kmph I see to reason to have it over an IS3 or KT.

I liked it on test with that uber long 107. Someday with Secondary guns working, that one on top of the turret should work too. It's a bit slow, but it's stout, and can bounce that IS4's new gun on occasion.

Dooooo et.

Bought mine this morning :)

I only have the 175 pen gun atm so cant damage much (basically stock).  However, the ability to absorb damage borders on absurd sometimes (usually when it doesn't really matter).  I regularly bounce shots that on paper, I have no right to bounce.

If you like having some armour that actually works (vs the IS-8 which has no armour at all) then you may like it.  Terribly slow and unmanoeuvrable but still on stock tracks/engine so its a bit unknown.

In the few games I've had I've already bounced T110's, an IS7 twice at point blank and a couple of shots from a BL-10. Shots often disappear into the side of this tank for no damage, I'm assuming the tracks are just big damage sponges.

I take it they left the speed at a dismal 30KPH top end so we don't get to play roller coaster ramtastic funtime ? :(

I bought a KV4 - One game with the D-25 and it was meh, 4 games with the ZiS24 and it was good (a IS4 ignored me to its peril)
Still on stock engine so its rather sluggish

The KV-4 is still beastly, with absurd frontal armor and access to a really good long 107 gun. It'll pen damn near everything, it's like the French long 90mm gun.

However, where it used to really shine was ramming, as it could hit 50kmh. Wargaming, in all it's splendor, decided to nerf the top speed to 30kmh in the second test of 7.3 Beta. Nobody asked for it, everyone hated the change. To top it off, the Russian release of 7.3 has the KV-4 at 50kmh top speed. They decided to leave in the nerfed speed for the North American release.

Gotta love where they got their priorities figured out.

Elited, this tank is a beast. Its not stupid amounts of fun, like it was on Test1, but still great. Top gun is amazing, simply. I wish other tanks could get this long 107.

You can still ram stuff to a silly death, it just requires more stupid on part of your victim. Second match today, I rammed a T29 to death, while shooting a T34Heavy. Killed both, becuase T29 kept backing up in a straight line, while bouncing his 105 all over my front.

You have to protect the mini-turret on the upgraded turret, or expect your commander to survive like none of your matches. He is quite like the driver of the old IS4, almost always dead.

Yes, because WoT websites have never been out of date. Most likely just didn't update it.

Now, go onto the Russian server and get me a screen shot with today's date and I'll believe you.

I've only played against it, not with it, but I noticed that it's very similar to the KV-5. It fires a bit slower, moves about the same, but you don't have to worry about that nasty little tin can on the front of the tank.

If you play the new KV-1, it's basically an upgraded version of that.

Yup, KV-5 without R2D2 and with a decent tier 8 gun!  There are the usual weakspots to be sure but the armour will bounce a lot.  Once it is elited it is a pretty decent ride if you like your heavies to tank.

Think I'm going to change my thoughts about this tank, it's cursed.  28 games in with 9 wins and 18 losses.  Every single win has been a close and tough fought game, 12 of the 18 losses have been complete and utter failures beyond any ability to recover.  If there was an even amount (or even a couple) of easy wins to balance things out I could forgive it, but if there is one side that will suicide/lemming then that's the team I'll be on every time.

Kind of hard to impartially evaluate a tank when I'm bashing my head into the desk in frustration :(.

-edit-
Ok, up to 18 massive stupidity losses out of 25 now...it just never ends.  And still not one single walkover win?  How can you ONLY get 0-3:15 type losses and never 15:0-3 type wins?

I hear you...this is a very rough stock tank grind right now for me.  Crown Royal & Ginger ale are helping me through this.  I have to wonder how many times gold rounds have been thrown at me too though since there is a sale.  I'm hoping that's the case because this armor has been penned in the gun mantlet many times tonight.

Thank you for posting that - the tank is cursed because my win rate is about the same.
