Just wanted to share a replay of a match last night, mainly some hectic base defense on Sand River.

The Stug III has it's moments.  ;)

SU-85 is now the only tank with the 107 at tier V.

SU-85 is now one of the best tanks in its tier.

Stug is a joke.

I had been unlucky in my stug, combined with not having premium and constantly finding my way into tier 9 games, I was fighting giants my entire time in the tank, save maybe a fifth of my games. The pain was worth it though.

I love the StuG III. It does me well 95% of the time.

How did you get put in tier 9 matches? Tier 5 (excluding SPG & heavy) should never see a tier 9 unless you are platooned. I've never seen a tier 9 tank in any of my tier 5 tanks (I don't have tier 5 SPG or heavy). Granted that match I linked was a relatively good matchup for MM. I do see a lot of tier 8 matches though and those typically don't go so well unless I'm on a team that does well.

It has a derp gun but accuracy and penetration leaves a lot to be desired. Given the right circumstance the Stug can deliver some hurt just as any other tank can.

matchmaker has a special place in its heart for me. The reason I drive mostly Tier 10 heavies is not because they're my favorites, but because matchmaker constantly threw me into high tier games all the time. it happens in my m18 frequently too but that tank destroyer is pretty boss so I can cope, I've bought back a few others, the tiger and the panther. The tiger is surprisingly better than the last time I played it in 6.9, it also seems to tier in a less punishing fashion for me tier wise as well, same goes for the panther. only time will tell if i'm being lulled into a false sense of security, but for the vast majority of my grinds on all tank trees i was thrown in tier 9-10 games from tier 5 and up. It's probably why I've started to get so good, having to fight giants all the time really hones your dm and planning skills.

Personally I like the 105 but Prefer the long 75 since it works well on sides and rears on the bigger tanks, but ultimately those kinds of games are left to the bigger tanks on the vast majority of games. I bought it back and played a few but decided I'd rather put it aside for the time being as my first game in it was a 5 tier 10 game.

edit: after buying my stug back and playing 5 games and only winning one of them. I can say that matchmaker is still putting me on the bottom of the list, but now its against tier 8's and not tier 10's. although it hardly makes a difference because i'm still team dependent in an otherwise useless tank. low tiers are pointless to play once you have better things in your garage, they all tier so badly and few have the capacity to deal with it.

I've been fairl Lucky with the STuGIII. I usually survive 1 out of 3 battles. The Only thing i dislike  about it is the armour. I know most German Td's have low armour, but i'm getting killed by Kv-1's in 2 shots, and it takes me 5 shots to kill them. Iv'e already researched the JagdPzIV, my question is, should i buy it or switch over to the American Td's? Any input would be great.

If you can handle a pain greater than you ever felt in the StugIII, than go for it. If you think the stug is bad, just wait until you get into the JagdPzIV, it was easily the most painful experiance of the german line for me. However, once you get past that pos, and get into the Jagdpanther and get the long 88, oh boy, will you have a smile on your face.

I'm sorry to hear that, my personal experience is that stugs can pick apart even the hardiest tier 8s. The only tier 8 without a frontal weak spot I can pen being the IS-3. Not every tank is for everyone but the StuG is certainly a machine in the right hands.

Seems I can't edit my OP so I'll try adding reply.

Edit: Just now discovered that 7.2 replays don't work with 7.3, no surprise there. I did however happen to Frap the replay before 7.3 was loaded so I'll get the vid up soon.

I never said it was a matter of personal ability. I do just fine, It's the rest of my team, particularly the top tanks that matter who can't seem to play their roles properly. Typically the higher the tier I am the more often I can influence the game, which is unfortunate because I have a weakness for low tier tanks.

I have a 1/10 win rate in the Stug III. I am going to sell it. In the Hetzer I had a 50% win rate. This tank and I do not get along.

I really enjoy my JgPanzer.

In the Stug (which I hated btw) I had a 34% win rate, average exp. of 280, and a Max of 730.
In the JagdPz I'm at 57%, 499 average, and 1540 Max exp.

I really like all my German TDs except the Stug.  I still play everything else from the Hetzer to the Ferdi almost every day.  I sold the Stug the moment I researched the JagdPz.

I just got a JagdTiger and I a having a very rough time. seems to me that at high tiers there is a real need for some form of team work. I had a great time with my Marder and have a reasonably good idea how to use a TD but I am getting creamed, even though I have gotten some awards, my win rate in the JT is abysmal.I guess it's a new
learning curve.
