How do I play the Loewe?

AncalagonBlack's Photo AncalagonBlack Jun 10 2012

I love my Löwe. For me, it's been refreshing to be able to dish out good damage, take hits, and actually bounce shots on a consistent basis. Game is so much more enjoyable at this Tier.

I've both sniped and brawled with it, albeit with limited battles so far (Averaging 1.25k damage a battle) As a Sniper, you can seriously maul any tanks that come in at 550m or less. As a brawler, use your tracks to your advantage (absorbing damage) if you are not in arty range AND getting detracked isn't going to compromise your position. Don't forget you can also ram other tanks. The Löwe is a heavy tank in game but really should be classed a super-heavy, weighing in at 90+ pounds (depending on modules), so you can def injure tanks with your momentum and save shells for another tank.

Also

Learn the weakness of other tanks you'll face, the reload times, and how much and where their gun can hurt you. Watch the minimap, stall an enemy push/support a push, know the capabilities of the tanks you're up against. Know how the map your on ebbs and flows, where the strong points as well as where there are places to go hull down/flank.

These are all basic tanking points that you need to know by the time you drive a Tier 8 heavy, prem. or not. Part of the problem with some Löwe drivers is that they have barely any experience past tier III, where most tanks can hurt other tanks and armor was mostly negligible to the battle.

Practice makes perfect. I'd advise looking up Löwe replays as well as watching other Löwe drivers in game, if you happen to blow up early on.

I've enjoyed playing WoT and the most of the players on it. There has been that occasional "Flamer" who blames the Loewe player for not taking the lead in the attack. The WoT manual states that the Loewe is NOT a first line attack tank but a supporting or sniping tank. It will not hold up long against other tanks in it's tier in a head on slugging match. I think most of the  "Flamers" are the 9 to 12 year olds who think they're playing an arcade game on ATARI.

the lowe sucks....i just bought one and played about 30 rounds with it. rushing is terrible because it has the armor of a paper plate. staying back and sniping is useless because after a single shot, arty dials you in and kills you with one shot. sell it ASAP.

294 battles....134 victorys....would you like to take a stab at the truth again?

If you can master the Lowe you will love this tank.
I get more steel wall and sniper awards in it than any other tank.......and I have lots including an E75 and a JT.

First it is slow but that's workable, just snipe as your working your way to the battle........it can do a lot of damage to the enemy team before your actually engaged and in some games when I'm in a really sweet spot I'll snipe the whole game.

There are some that say the Lowe has weak armor and it does have a weak spot........lower front armor that angles down, try to keep that behind something if you can and always, always angle your hull to the enemy that's shooting at you.

Do that and you will win steel walls......even against tier 8's and even sometimes bounce tier 9 and 10 shots.

I have litterly stoped the enemy team on an entire flank and against other tier 7's & 8's many times with my Lowe but you have to be positioned right to do that.
A few games ago I took 30 hits, last game I won a steel wall with 20 hits against a pershing and 2- T59's.......killed the pershing and the T59's would'nt come out to play after they got a taste of my 105.

Even if you do get flanked by one tank all is not lost, the Lowe can spin on a dime surprisingly well and I've won lots of dogfights against T-59's and other tanks that thought all you had to do to win against a Lowe is to flank it.

And everyone knows how awesome it is at sniping.

Once you get good in a Lowe I think it's at least tied as the best tier 8 in the game.

Anyone who thinks the Loewe is a spear header.. Think again. It's armor is 120 in the front ( something that My Pz4 can pen) and 80 on the sides and rear. I was just in a fight where i saved a Loewe's ass by killing the type 59 that was circling him. He got down to 5% health before I managed to kill the Type.

He probably was'nt good in a Lowe.

In a fair fight against a T59........I would win almost every time in my Lowe, even in a dogfight.

You don't win dozen's of steel walls in a Lowe by hiding behind the front lines......but I only do that when there are no enemies to snipe or I have to hold a flank.

Can only spearhead when it is well and truly top tank

Take any opportunity you get to hull down in nice positions (ie behind dead hulls) cos the turret armour is as good as the rest of the tank is weak

I often spearhead against tier 8 and under.........not against tier 9 & 10
But like I said I prefer to snipe depending on the situation.

My last game had a lot of big boys, my Lowe, a Patton and an IS-8 were holding the right flank against an E100, IS-8, Patton and a T29.
I killed the Patton and the T29 but the IS-8 tracked me in a bad spot and got a couple good side hits on me before my teammate killed him.
I survived that and then did some good damage on the E-100.....took out most of his armor while the Patton was distracting him.
The E-100 did get me and the Patton but not before I got him down to 9%......our IS-4 came back and finished off the E-100 and we won.
I killed an IS-8 in that battle too.

The battle before that I was in a one on one against a IS-3 he was in cover and I was where I don't want to be......in the open with that lower front plate exposed and I still hit him harder than he hit me, I probably would have won that one but instead I withdrew to cover and engaged a KV-5 that was coming around the corner........which turned into 2 KV-5's and another tank........that one did'nt turn out so well.
Almost always when I'm spearheading or holding a flank it's against other tier 8's and that's how I win steel walls.

The Lowe is just as good at spearheading as the KV-5, IS-3, T-34.......and any other tier 8.
But it's even better if you can keep that lower front armor protected.
