Dammit. Need to re-install Curse if I want Mods....

Don't think you ever had to install the client (at least not for WoW) but it made updating mods easier, in general.

You can download mods using the client, or download them directly. I used curse a few times for WoW.

I've heard that downloading them directly and scanning for viruses is safer.

I'd like to hear it from the WoT devs that the mods are safe to download. I wouldn't want my account hacked.

Bugger, I went to the site and downloaded the Ingame Chat Extender mod and now that I read all the forum I am in danger of catching a disease from the site.

Curse was infected with a virus back in Dec. iirc.  The virus has been removed.  I have downloaded all of the WoT mods from Curse and they are all "disease free."  However, if this still scares you you may want to stop breathing because breathing is hazardous to your health.

Curse itself was not infected at all. The issue came from a rotating ad that had been changed from its original state and was a security risk to those who clicked it. Changes have been made to the ad review process to make sure that this type of thing does not happen again.

Kidding guys, just kidding.

I did download the chat extender. I had been following  a thread where some folks wanted a mod  to eliminate chat completely. Me on the other hand wanted to see a history of the chat as when I get focused I am sure I am missing vital messages. And there I was about to see if anyone know of the mod and low and behold, here it is.

I have used the No Shadow since I started playing and put in the Damage Gauge last weekend.

All I want now is a mod to change the green friendlies outline to blue and be able to reduce the gamma on all outlines and I will be happy.

I went to the Curse/WoT mod site and downloaded about a dozen mods to install.  I also downloaded the free Curse Client to manage the mod installations but the program would not recognize the WoT game.  The error message listed the games it would install and WoT was not one of them.  What is this about?  Why does Curse have an section devoted to WoT mods but not allow the client to install them?

Don't worry, you can still download the mods and install them following the brief instructions  (they work fine) for the installation of the file.  All of the ones I downloaded installed and ran without a hicup.

As we've mentioned a few times in this thread, we are actively working on supporting WoT in the Curse Client, until then you have to install the mods manually.

The way that WoT handles mods doesn't easily lend itself to using the Curse Client. Many mods use the same file so we wanted to make sure we wouldn't be overwriting previous mods you've installed or anything along those lines. I'm confident that our solution to these kinds of things will guarantee the the client provides a pleasant user experience when it's ready.

I'm happy to hear that everything is simple and going smoothly!

It would appear that their server is overloaded, or running on a Commodore 64 right now :Smile-angry: .  Cannot access anything on it, server times out....  Seems to have been that way every time I have tried it today, except the first time this morning, but it quickly "timed out", ok, so not actually quickly, but rather went from responsive to non-responsive when I tried to down load a mod.

Maybe it is just my connection, though every other site I normally visit is behaving just fine.

Any Mod that gives a player benifits in battle is a hack.....Now W/G is promoting them!   Talk about a corrupt gaming provider.

Good to have another source of mods, I frequent the RU sites, translation is actually very good in most cases. and since mods are pretty darn easy to install/set up anyway, if you find you dont like em or are having issues then it is easy to revert.

Will definately be adding this new resource to my favs :)
