I have my Lorraine fully researched (finally) and now just building EXP for Bat, so this means that some of my heavies would have a easier time due to modules already unlocked from the med line. But is there actually a point of going down the heavy line too if I have the med almost done? I won't get an autoloader til 50 100, and that seems to be just a Lorraine with slight more HP (and RoF?). I've heard good things about the 50 120 (bad things about 50B) but I'm not sure if that tank alone is worth going down the heavy line. Any thoughts?

I too had the same thoughts when i had the amx 13-90 and the amx M4 . I was thinking of abandoning the heavies but when i bought the Amx 50-100 just to research the 100mm gun for the meds faster i found that they are extremely fun tank to drive and although i bought the Lorraine earlier than the Amx50-100 now i am closer to the Amx 50-120 than the Bat chat.

Go for both

I started down the light/med line and got as far as the AMX 13 75 (halfway to the 13 90), and i find that is so tedious and boring. However when the B1 and G1B were on sale I thought i might as well try them out. Im having way more fun with the G1B and the ARL44 then i ever did with the AMX 12t and 13 75. But thats just how i feel.

It sucks until the 50-100...

and then it gets AMAZINGLY FUN!

Right now the only reason it seems to have a 50B is for CW, but the that doesn't mean the tanks leading up to it aren't fun or interesting. The French playstyle really does seem like a good way to become a better player.

Yeah French heavies don't feel like French until the 50 100, but then isn't just a Lorraine? I guess the shorter time between shots with the 100mm helps. I wish the bridge from light/med line to the heavy line would be higher up on the tree like at 13 90 or Lorraine.

The 50 100 is essentially the same as the Lorraine, but the Lorraine is a better tank due to it's mobility.

But then you get the 50-120 which does everything harder and faster. Then again with the 50B faster and harder yet :-)

I think I've hit a brickwall with the AMX 45

the 50b is a dissapointment to be honest. I have the bat and the 50b. the bat is the better tank by far. Neither can take a hit, but the bat can get in and out of situations so much better. I would wait on the heavy line past the 50 100 until they fix the 50b... That is my opinion of it.

"The French Playstyle"  AKA Gimping yourself horribly and trying to make up with skill AKA Bashing your head against the wall until you go around it.

I went down the heavy line...the conventional tanks are fun to play with too.

The French heavies before AMX 50 100 isn't as horrible as legends that surround it says. If you can spare the efforts, why not? You can grind XP in wait for the conventional French heavies that way also.

I stopped there and grinding EXP on M4 45 so I can't comment on the beyond, but I enjoy them so far.

problem with the 50b is that it used to have gun depression that it can abuse, but now the devs took that away as well and combined with absolutely NO turret armor, making it crappier than its competition

Patch notes say it only got the gun depression nerfed by 1 degree? Nvmd, 2.

yea that 2 degrees hurt alot, since the turret has no armor, and now it cant use terrain to its advantage (whereas it previously had t110-like gun depression)

Yeah they over did the nerfs a bit. Maybe when the stats start to show it so, they'll reverse some.
