What gun is the S40's top gun? I doubt it's the 90mm DCA 30. The 75mm SA49 L48 as used by the AMX 12t, maybe?

I have no idea what the gun actually is, but I do know some of the [tentative] stats.

Somua Sau 40
111 damage....?
100 pen
15.79 RoF.

One of the advantages that I just realized that this thing has is a very good view range compared to the Hetzer. Its only 2m behind the M8A1. The Hetzer, consequently, also has the worst view range in the entire game.

Its DPM is reasonably high, only falling behind the T40 and SU85B.

We don't know what ALL of the gun options are. For all we know this thing may suddenly jump out at us with a derp gun from Hell.

BTW the S35 CA [tier 5] will have the 90mm DCA 30 as its top gun. Unspectacular pen for a tier 5 TD, but very hard hitting and with decent accuracy.

French tier 8 TD is like Jagdpanther on steroids with armor. Holy crap.

(No gun depression though of course, and I think people don't know its weak points yet)

Fun TDs. So far, I find that the main drawbacks of the Tier 8 are numerous weak spots, and limited gun motion. And I can't seem to keep my gunner alive, ever. Penetrations to the tumors up top, and even the gun ball, are killing him left and right.

Turret/rangefinder seem like the obvious weak spots. But then there's the gun ball. Guns with 220+ pen seem to have no trouble punching through it. The actual front armor plates are very bouncy, and there's barely a lower glacis to speak of. The threshold seems to be tier 7 and 8 - I could bounce tier 7's all day long at range, but once a tier 8 showed up, damage started rolling in pretty fast.

The aim time and accuracy of the guns is fantastic. Mobility is nice, but even on flat ground it takes a bit to get to max speed and you won't be climbing hills very fast either. The camo also seems quite good (Mannerheim, up north sitting in the nook at A4, firing consecutive shots at heavies rounding the bend at C1, ~300 meters and was never revealed. This was net + vents and 50% camo skill). ,Doesn't feel any more vulnerable to arty than other tier 8 TD's.

All in all, pretty fun!

That pic of the 'gun blister'(sorry, can't think of a better term) full of holes kind of concerns me. Reason would dictate that that armor would be some of the thickest on the entire vehicle, not to mention the presence of the manlet. With all the weakspots on top of these things, is there really any reason that the front needs to have multiple 0-thickness points?

That's my experience as well. Autoaim or aiming at the towers on top are easy (relatively) penetrations. No gun depression, either.

If the 180mm on the tier 9 is sloped back more then 50 degrees then that TD is going to bounce a lot of rounds. Even at 50 degrees E-75s will have trouble penetrating.

See that giant bar on top? That's like 0 armor. The machine gun turret too.

Try hitting that from 400 meters

The JT would be a fine tank if every engagement happened at 400 meters as well.

Look on the bright side. The Foch has one hell of an easy stock grind.

I hope the developers actually learned their lesson on grinds.

I find it very good as an assault gun. At the same time, my version of assult gun usually involves some sort of troll tactic, which the JT excels at. (reverse angle, hull down, facehug, 2 for 1 peeks, perma tracking, etc.)

Center of it does no damage, shooting it is worthless.

The S-35 CA is a fine TD.  Works well, the gun is right at the front, large traverse, peek-a-booming is eminently possible.  The top tier gun on it is the worst of the three guns on it, however.  That's all right, though, because the middle gun is fine.

The ARL V39 is a trap.  You buy it, thinking you've got all these bits and pieces researched, it'll be a blast out of the box.  And then find that the standard tracks can't do anything more than hold the best radio.  You're stuck with the stock engine and stock gun until you research the upgraded suspension.
