This is what 45k xp got me?(tiger)

I would, once again, like to suggest that anyone promoting the Tiger H as a "great sniper tank" should try playing a tank destroyer, AMX M4, Panther, or Tiger P.

Never got racked in mine unless I get shot in the rear of the turret (or turret & hull side),was never a problem to me.

So far in all my german heavies,I've never got my ammorack detonated.

Use the practice room...then you can try a few ways to work with it ! I had that tank and it's good. Every tank has a weakness..don't worry about it. As for me, i can tell you to keep a safe distance and shoot at many as you can and be cunning like a fox !  In a few games, you will become pretty good at it. Learn also to hide the weak spots and never fight sideways plus always move when you shoot.
Stay behind heavies...don't be the first in front !!!!!

I rarely, if ever, get racked. And I play it from stock up to elite.

Stock is a great pain in most tanks. This one is one of the worse because the carried-over guns are not very good unlike the other three tanks of the same class and tier.

I enjoyed my grind throught he Tiger to the TigerII. There were many matches where I got slaughtered but I kept my head down and would usually see how I made a slight mistake that would contribute to my death. The long 88 will make the tank much better. I didnt get aqmmo racked in my grind. It might just be bad luck is all. You will enjoy the tank once upgraded. I actually use the long 88 oin my KT since it cost less, loads faster and does nice damage. Whwn I fall into matches were I am out tanked I just do my best to support the bigger tanks and often will sacrifice my tank to help a heavy kill a tank on the other side.

I loved my Tiger H and felt like my heart died when I sold it for KT. I still miss it but too poor to rebuy. Anyways the Long 88 makes the tank so grind to that and then it will be fun

1. Grind it until fully upgraded.
2. Play
3. ???
4. Profit!

All stock tanks sucks, I thought its a well-known knowledge.

When I played through the Tiger, I had a Wet Ammo Rack and CO2 Filled Tanks, and something else but I forget.  The point was to marginalize the module damage it suffers.  The Tiger has been fixed up many times since then, but it still may be a good idea to run a Wet Ammo Rack.

"The Tiger is amazing when no-one singles you out or focuses on you"

This is not a Tiger trait-it's true for EVERY tank in the game (obviously...).

That being put out of the way, the Tiger is a usable tank. However, because it is weak even for a T7, it requires a bit more skill than many other tanks. You simply cannot accurately judge it until it is fully upgraded (it does truly blow stock) and have put in a goodly number of games in it (I'd say at least 100).

To me, the real problem with this tank (and some others) is a matter pf perception, ie., Real World VS what it is in the game.

1) New owners expect RL results (it living up to it's RL fearsome reputation). They WILL be quite unhappy.
2) Teammates frequently expect RL behavior (being the 'tip of the spear' and smashing in to the enemies best-and defeating them). Therefore they expect you to lead the assault against whatever the enemy has, regardless of type or level.
3) The reality is that the Tiger (H) is a poorly armored, moderately mobile, LARGE vehicle with good RoF and accuracy but poor damage (and bouncy shells).

If it had better armor and damage, you could indeed play it as a true heavy.

If it had better mobility (and was maybe a little easier to hide) you could play it something more like a big medium.

Instead, what you get is probably the most famous tank in history intentionally hamstrung (either tech wise or level wise) apparently in order to generally serve as cannon fodder for T29's and up (and lets not forget those mid level Russian TD's with big guns too...).

Learn to play it smart, and it can be fun-just don't expect to make gobs of money in it, though you can still turn a profit.

I occasionally have the ammo rack from front issue, but if you think about it, you just got hit with APCR.  Yes, the Tiger is nerfed, BUT still is an amazing tank to ride in.  I love mine to death..

just be happy that you are in the correct german heavy line and you wont have to suffer through the vk4502A, but instead get the awesome tiger 2

Very much this.  The Tiger is much bigger, has lower top speed and arguably worse armor.  Even angled, you will have a hard time bouncing Tier 5 guns.  It has two things that are supposed to make up for this: good penetration for its tier and a large HP pool.  They don't quite cut it, though.  It just sucks to have no chance whatsoever to bounce shots from vehicles your tier as a heavy tank, a class that supposedly sacrifices some mobility for protection and firepower.  You just don't gain what you are supposed to be trading for.

I was getting ammo racked from the FRONT. The racks are on the sides. Hence why I was asking why the racks were so fragile.

I wish people would read the thread before replying. MY ONLY COMPLAINT was about the ammo racks. Nothing else about the tank has been an issue at all.

Drive backward.  You'll probably take less engine damage this way, too.

hahaha, right Drive backwards^

nah, just get the crew trained up on preventative maintenance and safe storage, and those problems mostly go away. Save the equipment slots for things just rammer and vents or whatever. (train them on other skill first to 100+ then retrain them on the perks)

TigerH is actually a great assault tank, if you're lucky/use it right. Advise you use it as a sniper though...
Long 88 is an awesome gun, second only in pen to the french 90mm at this tier. Only time you have to fear a t29 is when it's hull down, then you should just run... IS's are jokes with this gun, and lets not talk about French armor...
Ever since turret buff, those fools who use auto-aim while shooting you hit the mantle a lot more. With luck you can even occasionally face hug with it now too.
Another great way to get bounces, especially in city maps is to peek your front hull around a corner as a target, only angled at like 70*+ degrees. People seem to figure they can pen a tiger and take shots at the ridiculous angle...
Then you roll around the corner after their shot and feed them 88 in the face :Smile-playing:

The perks helped way more than the wet ammo rack and co2 filled tanks. Oddly enough, the only time I seem to get racked is through the front from things like tier 10s so it isn't as bad as it seemed when I first got it. The lack of view range ended up being a bigger problem until I boosted it via optics and the view range perks. Now I can actually see what's shooting at me and move accordingly.

I never had an ammo rack problem and I have over 300 games played in it, with a hit ratio of 77% and knocking out 270 plus tanks. When you position you're tank, make sure you keep it at an angle, doesn't have to be much just enough to bounce shots from teir 5 and below. Then keep you're turret facing the enemy, also try to keep that at a small angle so you don't let your sides out but enough to help bounce small rounds. Plus the second turret will help solve your problem

Play the Tiger as a PZIV with the long 75 - Fragile sniper platform

Stay back, hold the aim for .1 sec after the recticle closes, steady shots....

But the 88 does more pen and damage - the tank has no camo though!

I agree with you're idea, it would work but I would tweak that style just a bit. If you use the Tiger's speed (which it doesn't have alot of) effectively by keeping things between you and the enemy it isnt as fragile. By moving around they have a harder time moving into a better position. You can keep them infront of you, allowing you to angle your tank to bounce rounds and use the ROF and accauracy of the long 88 to your advantage. I use this in the King Tiger as well when outnumbered and it can be very effective.

Fun fact. The VK4502 A has better global win rates then the Tiger II.
