First, the easy bit:
Meet at the main entrance to the Australian War Memorial on Sunday, 17th June at 10am. I'll be easy to find: American hat, speaks funny.
At a certain time, say 1pm, we shall adjourn to a local eatery for a meal and a chat.
Where that is... well that's up to you locals.
Please respond below if you are planning to attend, then also start throwing out ideas of a place for us to sit around and chat over a meal.
See you there!

Count me in too ... there will be a few other TOG guys going as well, look forward to it.
If you like a good feed at a reasonable price and some drinks the Canberra Labour Club is in the city close by.

The one in Belconnen is close by too, with that we could organise some free Laser Tag if anyone is interested ?
Cheers.

I'd love to come! I'm only a few hours drive, and just looking for an excuse to have a few drinks with some relo's up in Canberra.
It's a beautiful spot too the, War Memorial. Hope we can get a few to come along.

Well I live and work in Canberra so I'll be there as well - a good excuse for a day off and meet some fellow virtual tankies. You will probably want more than a few hours at the war memorial, depends if you like read everything or want to do a tour. If you give them the 'heads up' at the memorial I'm sure they will assign you your own tour guide (and the memorial is a voluntary gold coin donation BTW). At 5pm when it shuts they play the bagpipes sometimes and do a closing ceremony which I though was pretty cool.
There is a lot of history to see - LOTS!
Also they have a cafateria near the aircraft exhibition, also a bridge off a ship that was decomissioned and a movie experience of a WW2 Bomber.

Belconnen is not close by to the City lol, stop telling fibs hehe!! Canberra Labour Club really is one of the closest ok venues to the War Memorial, or anywhere in the City really. Looking forward to meeting The_Chieftan, it might be a small gathering at the Canberra stop over but it will be fun I am sure, despite our cold weather lol.

By which I meant its close to the Laser Tag, but hey this is Canberra land of the "OMG I cant get to it from my driveway - so it's tooooo far ...."
We moved here from the Airforce base in Katherine - albeit 17 years ago now - where was 2.5 hours + to get to decent shopping centre.
So no there were no "fibs"
Mordd, must be from QBN .. or actually from the ACT
Seriously if you have the time for dinner - at about 5pm and everyone wants to have a game of Laser Tag then Belconnen is it - we have cars and it's about 10 minutes to get there - or there is one in civic.
We run the tag centre and thought all those going might like a game or two at about 7pm.
In anycase it will be fun to catch up.
Cheers guys see you there.
Tack 317 - and Opti - Both from TOG will be coming too.

The Ainslie Football Club would be a good option for lunch as suggested and its pretty close by. Otherwise the city is good too and also very close.

Though you will need members to sign in non members and I am not sure if there is a limit on how many guests you can sign in. Also lunch only runs till 2pm.

I plan to be there also. Happy with any of the suggestions as long as we don't need to be a member to get in.
