so i was grinding for credits in my type59, and i was peekabooing over a hill on redshire tagging all the enemies silly meds, when a t32 showed up, having had a t32 for a while (I love the tank), it took a quick un-aimed pot shot as i drove away to return from a better angle.

the bullet hole in the t32 showed that i penned through the main mantlet, maybe 12" or so to the left of the gun itself, but square in the middle of the thick mantlet piece with standard ammo

I know there has been a lot of discussion about the cheeks of the T32 now being penn-able, but has anyone else been on the recieving end of penetrating shots to the mantlet itself?

You sure it went through and it wasn't just a spaced armor pen?

I think there's a machine-gun port somewhere around there too.

The t32 has two turrets.

One has 300 armor.  The other has like 108.

They look identical, and the new t32 players have to be raped for 100 or so games before they get any armor added to their tank.

I've been penned through the mantlet on my T32 with the upgraded turret a few times now, it's rather annoying. And yes, pen with damage, not spaced armour absorbed

yea i think i brought him down 20% or so HP ( i could be wrong and dont know the HP of the t32 or the damage of the 59 offf the top of my head)  it was right in the thick part of the mantlet, i never notice a MG port there but i guess it coulda been.  I had a great time in my T32 though, still has my xp record at 2400+

Huh, I never had that issue back in 6.6.

I don't suppose any one has a picture of this thing's armor somewhere? I've had the upgraded turret about 20 battles now and I'm feeling more vulnerable in this thing when hull down than in the T29 despite a supposed increase of about 20mm thickness. Partially it's just harder to get this thing hull down since the turret is smaller, but I've been surprised at the sort of pens I've experienced. Gold ammo is always a real possibility of course.

True, but in the OP's case, he was shooting at the T32... in this case, he has no idea if the T32 had the better turret or not.


In truth, I have been penned through the turret of several high armor designs.  Sometimes by foes that would have no chance of such a penetration even with gold rounds.  I occasionally pen a target I am shooting that I have no chance at all to damage.  The best examples can be gotten by sticking your turret out some of those holes in the buildings in Campanovka.  You will take so many hits that ping, and about once a game, you will get a hole in a place you KNOW there is nothing on the other side of the field capable of making a hole there, for 200 odd damage.

I have always written it off as some sort of critical penetration shot.  Such a roll may not exist, but I do not have have another answer.

• Same story.  I've taken my T32 out and while hulldown got penned twice right through the mantlet, one shot on either side of the gun and was all but taken out of the fight.  This was by a Lowe and a VK3601 (or whatever, that German med/heavy thing).  Was not HE, since that would not have done as much damage as I took in two hits on the mantle.

My t30 mantlet always gets penned

while driving my t29 and t32, i was ocassionally penned in the turret, but i dont feel the chances of being penned are very high--therefore not enough to stop me from going hull down or make going hull down ineffective
