I got to ask this question because I never been in this situation before. I had six in the clip and six left in the tank. I was about to run out of ammo due to all the damage and destruction I was doing in a Westfield match. And not all my rounds hit their targets.
My team was south spawn and the mediums went high on the plateau. The battle ended up with me as the lone survivor on the plateau. However, there still was eight of their team left trying to hunt me down.
I hide myself rather well, coming close to unloading a clip due to being spotted. I really would like to hear what actions my fellow autoloaders would do if this situation was thrust upon them.
What do you do when you run out of ammo for the Lorraine 40t?

I emptied all my rounds from my amx 13 last night at live oaks and knocked out two enemies famaging evryone else. Noone could see me and I was free to just blast away dishing out the pain. When I ran out of ammo I just drove around trying to find their arty and circled him until my arty could knock him out, he was probably wondering why I wasnt shooting him....
for all that work all i got was 500xp.....it was fun though. Scout and distract enemies who still think you'll be loaded would be my guess as to what to do.

soak shots, scout, light artillery, distract enemies, supress tanks that think your loaded and will be afraid to rush you.
theres alot u can do after your out of shots.

You can act like you have ammo remaining. Once on Province, a sole surviving Tiger II (Top tier over everyone else still alive) managed to defend the eastern base by not running away and instead holding his ground. When the timer ran out, he quickly typed " out of ammo" and then the match ended. I felt so stupid afterwards, but looking back now, I don't think a T-34 with the 57mm could have done anything (me).

There is no way in the world you can run out of ammo in a Lorraine. Its possible on the AMX 13 or the BatChat, you have 30 rounds/5 magazines. The Lorraine has 60 rounds!!!
Still, back to the topic, The Lorraine is really, really a GOOD ramming machine. 40tons, and it can accelerate to 60 km/h out of the friggin nowhere. It will still hurt, despite having no frontal armor.

Get Controlled impact and a liner. You should be good to go...

How do you guys run out of ammo, the 13 90 has 36 rounds which is (6*2.72+40)*6 = 5.6 minutes worth of constant shooting. That's assuming that you don't let your reticule settle completely. I also notice that some of you mention running out of ammo but only getting 500 exp. There are games which I fire off 12-13 rounds and I get 1000+ exp non premium. And so far in 200+ games I have yet to fire more than 24 rounds in a single game.
Lorraine is even more ridiculous, with the long 90mm you have 60 rounds which is 9 minutes of constant firing, and the 100mm it's 48 rounds lasting for 9.6 minutes of constant firing. I don't think it's possible to run out of ammo unless you delibrately go about wasting ammo

RAMMING SPEED!!!!
This is why the lorane >>>>>>> batchat. When the batchat empties its 30 rounds or is between clips, it is useless. When the lorane is, it rams 200-300 hp off the nearest medium tank if it needs to. More of a finishing move, but it actually has relavence in game. I can count the number of times ramming has saved me when my ammo rack was damaged and im waiting on a 90s reload.
Also, its pretty darn hard to run out of ammo. Only 1 game i have ever been on my last clip. With 8 clips in the tank you have to be firing pretty much the whole game to run out.

It does happen. I was in a great unseen position in a battle with much higher tiers and rather than just sacrifice myself I was trying to keep the enemy pinned down and tracked so they could finished off. I did a pretty good job at it but didn't do that much damage. If I kept a pesky E75 tracked for three minutes just by blowing off his tracks whilst others moved in and finished him off then it was worth it.
Uhh a Lorraine 100 or a Lorraine 90 should have no problems hurting a E-75, and how do you keep a tank tracked when you have a 40-50 second reload time?

I was in an AMX13, havent progressed far enough to enjoy the eternity taking reload time of the higher tier French tanks yet.

Heh if I run out of ammo in the lorraine, I will be jumping for joy as I will have made 6kor more un-doubled experience :P

I agree, with most of the others who posted, use yourself as a scout when out of ammo, The french tanks have the worst armour of the 5 countries so practicing sniping and long/ medium range support is usefull. Unless you are extreamly confident that you can do it, never use a frenchy as a spear-head.

I have never run out of ammo in my Lorraine, then again I don't waste my shots either. If I did I have to agree with the other posts here with a slight vaiation. Scout / Ramming but you are gonna die so sure take one for the team but better still tuck yourself safely away somewhere, watch the battle unfold, pick a line and do an end around on thier cap. If nothing else it will make them divert their attention back to base!

I ran out a couple times in the AMX 13 90 and was not wasting ammo, it is only five reloads if a match goes 15 min. it is not hard to run out. Never come close to running out in the 40t

Good to see everyones POV. I had six rounds go wild while all others hit. I can post the replay if you want.
