I had a string of 12 standard matches before I finally got an assault match. I like these new modes. Standard Battles are like Ramen. You can eat it every day, but you'll eventually get tired of the same flavor. Toss in the other modes and you've got Beef Ramen, Pork Ramen, Oriental Ramen, Spicy Curry Ramen...... Dang it, now I'm hungry....

The new game modes are a lot better thought-out than they might first appear. So far I've found effective strategies for both sides of all of them, even in pub matches.
I think the main thing making them suck hard on the test server is that a large percentage of the RU players don't understand what they are and keep trying to do things like "capture" the assaulting team's spawn point. This quickly leads to the other team steamrolling you.

Assault mode doesn't seem to cause much confusion, but Meeting Engagement can be comically bad sometimes. I really don't understand what the difficulty is - it's still just kill the enemy and/or capture the flag. And yet, it seems to have players struggling to grasp the concept.

The first week on Live will be bad. I'm sure 90% of players don't visit the forums or read patch notes. Should be fine after that.

lol, if you don't like the game then move on. So far i like this game in every way and i haven't complained about it once. I don't even mind the matchmaker.
^^^ THIS!!! To this day I do NOT understand why people bitch and complain so much about something, and yet continue to use it.

People complain about only one game mode. Now people are complaining about new game modes...
^^^ This too. Not enough ... oh, but now there's too much ...

There are no real new game modes just base caps moved around. Witch has made maps more unbalanced. What makes these new game modes, oh 1 kind only 1 team has a cap whooo. New game modes should add possibility and game play differences not just move some stuff around and call it a new game mode. Hell 1v1 fights would have been more of a new game mode then what they added.
What ... wait ... WHAT??? We're getting witches in WOT??? Cool!!! Magical tanks that can cast spells. 7.4 should be the coolest thing since cool began!!!

It'd be different if we were able to take a few hits.. but no!
I'll soon abandon WoT like I did to Myspace.

It's been a pleasure having you on board. We will really miss you. I have a virtual card being passed around to sign by the whole community. Even the EU and RA guys are a little sad you are leaving.
You will be sorely missed.

Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out ...
Seriously this whinging and complaining is getting out of hand. Are there really that many people out there with nothing better to do?

It's an unfounded complaint at that. Assault mode still has the teams starting on opposite sides of the map, just like normal, except only one team has a flag. It's really no different as far as SPG setups go (though the locations are of course different).

Maybe the Standard, Encounter and Assault modes, instead of being random, could be placed in the pull-down menu in the garage so you can pick which one you want. Still randomise the maps, but let us select which mode we want to play.

I haven't tried the new game modes, but based on what I've read, I'm concerned about how they will play out when the patch goes live.
We've all seen first hand how abysmally low the collective intelligence of an average pub match can sink. It seems that every game, at least one person can't grasp the concept that sitting still out in the open is a bad idea. Every couple of games we have a 8-10 tank lemming rush to one side of the map. I've seen a lone surviving T95 kill 12 because they literally drove straight at him, one or two at a time while being considerate enough to give him time to reload.
Now you want to give the average pubbie game modes where coordination and fire discipline are REQUIRED to win a match?
I can only hope for the best...

It is incorrect to call them new game modes, they are simply new maps. A "game mode" is a "game within a game". It allows players to CHOOSE different strategic options within the same game. By definition "game modes" ARE SELECTABLE BY THE PLAYER, which is the whole point of having different game modes within a single game. It is simply not accurate to call these "game modes" as they are not selectable by the player, which is a critical part of the definition of the term.
This isn't an opinion, I was designing games before there even was a computer game industry. A "game mode" is a "game within the game" that allows players to choose a different set of strategic objectives. If you can't choose it, it is by definition not a "game mode", it is simply a different map.
