Is it wrong that I entered battles with the 76mm on the T29 for a few "lulz" games?

Really?  I won all four matches I played in the T29 last night, in a row, and bounced plenty off the mantlet.

Nope.  Turret is almost impenetrable from the front, just like it's always been.  Your commander's cupola is vunerable if your opponent can get a shot on it and the turret sides and rear are nothing special.

I really wouldn't call the hull armor on the t29 "average" by any means. Wot armory calculated the hull armor at around 155-@ 30 degrees angled and 170 @ 45 degrees  angled. This is enough to bounce most t5 tank guns outright and still give a good chunk of the t6 bracket problems.

@nremies

You can actually pen the turret from the front if you hit that little triangle shaper peice of hull just above the mantlet. Also theres a  pennable spot on the very tops of the  turret "ears" but are nearly impossible to hit unless you are considerably higher elevation than your opponent.

In terms of calling it the "best" tier 7 I would have to disagree. The tiger P is pretty much tied since people don't seem to realize that it the majority of its turret is one massive auto bounce zone (unless dead right or dead left of the gun mantlet) and has a comparable gun and armor to the t29.

I fixed it for you.

I'm planning to get the 105 late in the grind. The radio and final +40-horse engine will probably wait for after the 105, but until then, I'm in no hurry to be spending 1k per shell.
I want the platform to be making the most of those shells; I want to be positioned correctly and have the full HP pool before I'm throwing around that kind of cash.
Mostly though, I just don't feel the need yet. I take a small after-battle xp-ranking hit (midrange instead of top 5), but I profit an average of 10-15k silver per win (non-prem), 1-4k per loss, and the xp rolls in steadily enough. Right now the only thing I want for is a little more maneuverability.

I don't think being patient with the boomstick is an unreasonable strategy.

If the T29 was a great tank, it has SERIOUSLY lost ALOT of its pep in recent patches....they are absurdly EASY to kill...

So is Tiger, IS and M4 1495, you point being?
Btw, i would watch myself with such an obvious alt, WG apparently don't take kindly to alts these days.

I'll take my survival rate in the T29 over most people's rates in any Tier 7 heavy, thanks.

Im not trying to be sneaky about my alt lol.  I want KnightFandragon dead anyway......WG doesnt let us make new "soldiers" within the game, so meh....what other options do we have?

THe point being, the T29 isnt this uber god killing machine like you all have made it out to be.  Everyone claimed it was just AWSOMEROFLPWNsawce tank...but as of late, well.....I dont see them being one ounce better then the other T7s......in many cases, Ill takea  Tiger over the T29, the Tiger fires faster and the gun is more accurate...even if it does like 50 pts less damage pershot...

Anyone saying it's an "ubergodkillingmachine" is using hyperboly, or has a warped perspective.

That said, your position is no more realistic.

Why is that? Not questioning you, just want to understand why. I always back up (and usually die) because I assumed it gave me the ability to be more mobile.

When you back up, your giving them shots at your weaker hull rather than only being able to shoot your stronger turret.

I love the heck outta my t29 but did anyone notice odd flyaways or bounces with the 105?  It's always been this way but with the newer armor/pen calculations it seems to have a wild shot or odd bounce.  At 1k per shot it makes you really wait for that perfect shot.

Yes, I notice them -- more than the Tiger's long 88, fewer than the 122 on the Soviet tier 7s.

The 105 can be inaccurate at times, I've found. I haven't played it much, but coming from German tanks, the accuracy felt lacking.
