The E2...when you try to do a quick relocation or flanking at 34 km/h.

I'm trying to quantify the difference between the E8 & E2.  One observation is, in my matches, I've seen the E2 at 760hp (max) and E8 at 750hp (max).  I guess HP is not strictly indicative of the E2's armor.

I also have run my (fully upgraded) M4 side-by-side with the E2s & E8s.  Interestingly, the E2 seems to had the same acceleration and top end as my M4.  So the above quoted 34kmh for the E2 seems low.  The E8s I've run next to have same acceleration but higher top end (pulling away from me when I'm doing 47kmh).

Since these are pubs it's likely the tanks I've seen aren't fully upgraded so it's not an apples to apples comparison.  Hence my post to these forums for any other quantifiable data.

Thanks,
Scott

I think the better way to see it is that you can play like a heavy against tanks of your own tier, while you have to be a sort of a gimped medium against the 8s and 9s.  When you are playing as the E8, you play like a true medium even against your own tier - the style shouldn't change regardless of what you are facing.

The E2 for all intents and purposes is a heavy in tier 6 fights, and can even operate like one against tier 7 mediums.  It has the tools for it to play it that way, but it's not going to be all that effective when you try to do a quick relocation or flanking at 34 km/h.  The E8 is going to have to flank and flank and flank regardless of the opponents save for tier 4s, but it has all the tools to make that flanking work.

The E8 seems like a easier opponent because if you're shooting at him he's already doing it "wrong".

This is pretty much the case in my experience.  Against T8+, you really need to get lucky with the jumbo/76 to get much done.  T7s it can contribute, but behind the main players.  Against T6, it is basically a heavy tank.  Last battle, I got top gun, sniper, and steel wall in the jumbo.  When it is sitting on top of the list, I get a feeling of invincibility in that tank that I don't get in any other tank I've got, with one exception, an M4/derp w/gold ammo.  But that's kinda cheating.

I have not rolled my Jumbo yet, but I love the Easy 8.

City fighing is my fave.  Set up an ambush and with that quick gun you will get 3 hits before they can bear down on you.  Then you can either finish or pull out.  When you get in mid game and have the upper hand you can hit the heavy, run away, hit him from another side, run away... it's so much fun.  Unless you are way over matched, you can take some hits and dish out some pain.

When you are very low then either play like a light or just hang out behind the heavies.  You can still do some damage and if nothing else put shots on them.  No matter how little damage a shot does, getting hit makes you react.  When you see your opening, then run for their rear.  You probably won't surive, but die a glorious death anyway.

E2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>E8, in my opinion. The armor will save you more than the speed will.  I always laugh when an E8 driver on the other team says his tank is better than my E2, then we meet in a front on front battle, 30 seconds later there is a dead E8 and im still at full health laughing at him

The speed also gives you more opportunity to shoot at things.  Neither tanks is really better than others since they are different sort of tanks.

I would get the E2 first for the simple fact that from it you can jump to either the heavy line or continue down the medium line. Go E8 and you are locked into the medium line and if you want to go heavy you have to grind the E2 anyway or go back up to the M3 to grind the T1, which would be my idea of hell on earth.

I never played the E8 but I can say that the T20, which you can reach from both the E2 and the E8, is gobs of fun.

when i had to make this choice some time ago i chose the e2 and heres the reason:

usually on the m4 it was frustrating to get penetrations everywhere, even frontal from any angle and about any distance, usually from high tiers of course, when i saw that the e8 had about the same protection, the fear of the frontal pens was evident and i didnt want t suffer from that.. of course, i also knew the e8 was highly mobile and both shared the same guns, so i risked and went to the e2 hoping to have a little more protection, and i wasnt wrong

despite having a juuuust a bit slower acceleration than the m4, it all pays off when you bounce many shells and about everywhere, i was told using the 105 was a solid world of pain against high tiers, but i stuck with the m1a2, the super high RoF, decent pen and combine this with the appropriate modules and crew training, you get one mean machinegun of death! (1.3 sec reload with full aim with all these combined)

ever since, the e2 has a permaspot on my garage, and probably the e8 will do as well if its mobility lives up to its name!

time will tell

1.3 sec?

unless things have changed 76mm M1A2 on E2/E8 reaches 2.75 sec using rammer, vent on max crew
add BIA on top of that and you get 2.69 sec reload time.

1.3 is beyond fast... that's nearly autocannon fire rate, even faster than QF 6pdr and other 57mm rapid firing gun.

as far as i can remember there's no gun larger than the autocannon that can achieve that fire rate, 2.75sec is still bloody fast mind you, though the french 75mm autoloader reloads the shell from the magazine faster still in 2 sec roughly but naturally it has the limitation of the magazine size limit and reload, while the E2/E8 can keep firing till the entire reserve is depleted.

Just bought the E2, played first game, killed three, damaged a few, got Sniper, and made 25K.   I am happy with the jumbo so far.

If true, that would be an excellent selling point.  Typically, the first fights in a new tier tank brings me to tears.  I'm grinding through in the M4, which I positively love, and am pondering which way to go.  Seems a lot are going the way of the E2, right?
