T-62A

Aluminum_'s Photo Aluminum_ Jun 11 2012

How do you think this tank will be different from the T-54 (aside from the expected higher pen gun and more health)?

Speed, traverse speed, and better gun damage and other's (wasn't able to think of more sadly :Smile_sad: )

Well they will have to do something crazy with the gun, either damage or ROF, because now even the BatChat will have a 105mm which if the current 105's can be a guide will do 390 average damage.

If I recall correctly the T-62 (not the A) had 100mm of hull armor, so weaker than the in game T-54.  I doubt they will do that but I also doubt they will be able to stretch it beyond the current 120mm.  WG has shown a reluctance to alter the listed armor of a tank that existed as a prototype or beyond (except the Maus, which has less armor then IRL) so we can probably expect 240+ front turret armor though if that is any compensation.

Wikipedia also says 115mm gun and we aren't getting that, likely because it is smoothbore and I doubt WG wants to add APDS rounds.

i wonder why, i mean they could fit the 115mm, i dont see how that would be op. Heck the only reason they made the t-62 was to have a bigger gun then the t-54/t-55

Main reason was T-62 was cheaper to manufacture than T-55.

If they give it 390 damage, they are going to have to limit it to 4 rounds clip. There's no way they are going to give it 2340 burst damage.

T-62 is like a type59 moved to tier10................ I don't know what the devs are thinking about.. dispite the bad reputation of D-54t gun, the 100mm frontal armor make it the worest protect thank in tier10!!!!!!!!

(not includes the bat 25t, the bat is always the best except armor )

And why the devs forget about the object 430? or Object 430U? they are all great candidates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Sigh, when I heard about T-62 is going to be a tier 10MT, I'm so despirate.......

5 rounds per clip, otherwise there's no point of using those over a 50B

Better mobility/camo, much smaller target so harder to hit. And you can't scout with 50B in CW :Smile_veryhappy:

But it would fall out of the traditional Medium role of having more DPM but less alpha than heavies. 390/4 shots vs 400/4 shots

Actually this raises a good point... how the heck is the improved Batchat not going to completely obsolete the AMX50b?

Well, we don't know that it's going to be 390 for sure yet. The 105s on the heavies have 320 damage. So either 6 clips of 320 or 4 clips of 350 with reasonable reload time? You can increase its strength without having to buff the gun TOO much. HP buff with pre nerf dispersion/aim time on a gun that's 320 a hit would be more than enough.

But we are getting side tracked. As far as T62 go, I'm not really interested lol.

T62 has the same hull as the 54, but slighly better turret armor. More pen, but still 320 damage since its a 100mm. Really i think the T62 will blow. at teir 10 it just doesnt have anything that sticks out as a good teir 10 tank.

You are absolutely right, Nothing sticks out on this potential new arrival thats one step above the t-54. It's really not what any of us wanted
or needed to improve this line.
The same crap 100mm gun (if It performs the same) is REALLY a huge disappointment, as is the choice to use the T-62 A

Out of curiosity, wasn't the T-62A a soviet cold war heavy tank?

No, the cold war analogue past the T-10 would be the T-64, not the 62. All the 62 is is a stretched T-55 to accommodate a 115mm gun, which this early variation doesn't have lol.
