About that Transmission Thing -- Part II

Overlord's recent blog includes an interview with Hilary L. Doyle. A quick google shows many books written by him on tanks, specifically german armor (btw, best career ever?).

So does this dispel the Russian Bias for now? Or not?

I wouldn't say there is a bias really. But I would say the e-75 and e-50 both seem very well balanced and are not in need of a nerf. The e-100 with it's best feature being it's "tough" armor, has become nearly useless with the last two guns (t110 and IS4) brought into the game have such high pen. It also seems like trash that the e-100's lower plate is weaker than the e-75's.
Edit: The Maus also feels kinda useless now too.

Isn't Doyle the guy who wrote the book which 'rear-transmission supporters' used as the historical evidence for the rear transmission? It is clear now then.

hah a Maus that is able to angle its armor is unstoppible before you can get a tank that gets near it and can aim for the side. E-100's lower plate is still hard to pen. Tier 8s cannot pen it. Play the T30 in its old state (if there is a way) it was killed by tier 6s.

I have been on both sides of the fence, depending on my mood. But I will say it like this. There is no "Russian Bias" has much has the DEVS have a serious Anti-German bias.
I wont go to lengths to explain this....we have all heard the arguements both ways. But I will also say this....the way the whole game is designed removes all the strengths that German tanks were known for, and keeps most of their weaknesses. Long range killing power....like in well over 1500 meters....not in this game. The pen tests the DEVS used....has in the harder German test only used on their guns while the easier Russian one for their own guns, hence the 88L56 is a joke, when it was very deadly back in the day. The Spotting system, which again, removes the great advantage of German optics, and assigning dismal camo values to German tanks. ETC. ETC> you all know what Im talking about.
Plus the rumors...and only talk and rumors, that Serb said he would never buff the tanks of the people who killed his ancestors, and wanted them to "burn more". To be fair...I have never seen any FACTS that he said this, just the rumors, but it does make sense if you look at the big picture.
Its a fun game without doubt, but I would'nt call it "balanced" by any measure.

The T30 had more penetration than the T110 does, so do 2-3 other vehicles that were already in the game. They really nerfed the penetration on the M58 120MM on the T110 and M103, it should be around 280MM
The advantage to German high tier heavies is that they have relatively good armor everywhere, and are able to shrug off and almost ignore anything that is not equal tier. No U.S. heavy tank can do that.

I posted my view of the "bias effect" here.
for those who didnt follow that link, the bias is felt because the two lines (german and soviet) have two different design philosophies and playstyles. one is more user friendly, the other takes a bit of work to master for those used to brawler style tanks.
as to the transmisson move, we all know the lower glacis is a weakspot, angling/hiding that plate makes it far stronger, as well as getting closer, now it will be a bit more important to hide the lower glacis on the affected tanks.

The t30 was one tank. Now you have the m103, t110, st-1, IS-4 andf is-8 with crazy high pen.
If you cannot pen a maus or a e-100 in a tier 9+ you simply are not aware of their giant weak spots(such as eithers turret), period.

Again, there were others already in the game, they're still in the game.
The M58 didn't get "crazy" penetration. It should have been around 280MM, they nerfed it. Not to mention it has a very high drop off rate in penetration, it loses penetration over range faster than most, including German weapons.
Come back when your tank is made out of ammunition rack modules, so any rate of fire advantage you may have ever had is permanently lost after the 2nd or 3rd hit. Come back when a tier VI or tier VII can tear your sides and rear to pieces.
The U.S. tier IX and X heavy tanks no longer have a strong turret, either, a tier VI can penetrate the side and parts of the front of the M103 turret, and a tier VII can do that ot a T110.
You do not have a monopoly on weak spots. Not even close, not even by a long shot.

T110 says hi! T110 has better armor than E100, Its half its size, most of its hull is the beak and its faster.

You sound like you have a hard time keeping your front toward your enemy. The 268 and 269 pen on the is4 and t110 gun are the highest among heavies. They completely cut through a turret face of either the maus or e-100. The German tier X guns are arguably the worst in the game. I'm guessing you have no idea where the ammo rack is on a maus or e-100 if you think the t110 is the only one with rack problems, as they are not hard to hit at all. Do not talk to me about losing pen when the 150 lobs giant shells at retardedly slower speed than the t110 does and starts with WAY less pen to begin with. The t110 completely outclasses the maus or e-100, period. And I do not the t110 is OP in the least bit.
Stop talking about TD's when I am talking about heavies.
Wait, you have 60 games played in your t110 and a 37% win rate. No wonder you think it's bad.

Actually, you're very wrong. I have 5 games played in my 110, the rest is left over from the T30.
I never said the T110 was bad, either.
See, assumption is the mother of all ............................
Next time, do not assume so much. If you stop assuming so much, maybe you won't have so many problems with your E-100.
I guess keeping your front to the enemy is easy when you're so slow that you don't get far enough toward the front to have the enemy be able to get behind you.

I suggest you compare more than just frontal armor. Of course the T110 is faster, other than the very front of the hull, it has about 1/3 the armor.
There is no rule that the enemy has to shoot you from the front. This is not a "gentlemen's duel".
It always amuses me, people want the same speed as the fast tanks that have less armor, the same armor as the heaviest tanks that are the slowest, and they want the best cannon to go with it.
Good luck getting all of that.

5 games in a t110 and you're a specialist in it? My points still stand.
PS, I love how you tell me not to assume, and then you make an assumption.
