Whats a pin up poster??
an example or something would be nice.  Is it just like a poster and what has to be on it?

Judging from the previous art contests...
1st place winner normally is your average run of the mill, I have no idea why they picked it as first place kind of work [But sometimes I am wrong this statement, sometimes 1st place is really nice and really deserved it]
2nd place should be the first place winner...
3rd place is either a rather good one, or made by some 10 year old kid...
4th and 5th place are usually by some weird random thing you can barely call art.

And normally there are other VERY nice works with hard effort that dont even make it at all...

For example, look at the Design your own German Tank contest...
http://forum.worldof...n-tank-contest/
From that contest...
1st place was a really well done

The 2nd place was rather nicely done

I have no idea how this design won 3rd place
Warning, VERY BIG PICTURE. Sorry

4th place was.. well.. take a look for yourself...

5th place was rather ok ok
Very long picture, My apologies for that.

And these 2 out of 5 are Consolations... aka, they won 1000 Gold

Warning, VERY VERY VERY big picture, im really sorry, dont know how to shrink it.

So what im saying Mods, please, judge on how good looking they are, and not because you feel sympathy for kids who barely put in effort like 1-2 days compared to those who spent weeks making good works of art.

Just my 2 cents.

If I draw a picture with a pencil or pen and then scan it in to color it on the computer, would it be considered a render or a "pen and paper" submission?

(i might get negs for this, but it was worth it. lol, shitzer 4)

Please keep the posters classy! No vulgarities or pornographic tendencies allowed.

If what I know to be a pin up poster as seen on many bombers and tanks from WWII ... alot of them had the above mentioned tendencies just by definition of what they were..... maybe say no over done tendencies because lets face it what was appropriate for that era at its worst is far better then things Ive seen going on with what even kids wear out in public today......SO if people keep within the era then it should be alright....

+1, brilliant. I could draw something that could take me 5seconds, miss spell everything, and say a 2yr old did it.

FYI, the submissions for the Design your own German tank were not based only on the drawing, but mainly on the explanation and description.

Also, you will be choosing the top 5, not us.

I understand, I put that up to reflect more the current perceptions, and not those of the pin up poster era ;)

Awesome, I'll do my best to participate in this one.

2 questions tough:

1. For the digital category, instead of submitting a flat poster, can we make a pin-up on a section of a tank. I'm thinking of something similar to airplane nose-art commonly found on allied bombers in ww2.

2.

Seeing our players have a keen eye, we will be posting out top 10 choices for each category and will have you vote for your top 5.
So the winners will be solely chosen by the community? Do you plan to interfere if you see that a specific entry gets *bumped* up for no apparent reason?

hmmm, man if only i could get a glimpse of how you want a pin-up to look like (on paper) because if i drew something, it'd probably some anime-looking crap which of course isn't technically a human-looking pin-up. I'm sure I'd be out-beat by the many other better artists but i just thought "why not give it a shot" lol.

So yeah, what should a paper-drawn pin-up be like? (I can google it, but it still doesn't help me understand).

Whatever, I'll just sumbit something random and hope for the best :l

I'm not sure if you're actually asking a question here or not, but I'll answer anyway! Most "pin up" drawings were done on tanks or airplanes themselves, and painted, you can actually see the ones that Tea_of_Doom just put in his post.

1. Yes, you can.

2. We will be choosing our top 10 from all the submissions, and then posting those top 10 for you to choose your top 5. We usually do it by a voting process through the reputation arrows.

Can I draw and ink a picture on paper, scan it, and then color it on the computer? What category would that fit in, since it is both paper and digital?

If it were up to me, this fine gentleman would have received first and second place.

That would be the render part - I'd expect the pen and paper to be solely pen and paper ;)

Thx for replying. I'm really looking forward to the posters coming out of this contest.

I've already started sketching...

This contest actually got me excited. I only wish I had the talent to compete. I look forward to seeing some of the submissions. I am a huge fan of pin up style art, and have several tattooed on my body.

I wonder who actually made it though, i mean in honesty spelling tracks as teraks has to mean something. What's the age range for this game? I hear children from like 7 to people who sound like veterans (or old angry men)

He/she spelled Engine and Maybach but totally missed tracks? Hmm.  Anyway, since its rating, I imagine the range is pretty broad.

On topic, if you guys have questions about what a pin-up is, just go to google pictures.  No I'm not trolling, there are plenty of examples there.
