Greifers ..just say NO

1Grayeagle's Photo 1Grayeagle Jun 16 2012

Hiya.

Drop into a PuG match and you can just about set your watch on how many times you will hear someone say 'noob' or whine about matchmaker or just having a bad day and missing their Nappy Nap ..and then there's the kids that miss their dads practicing their 8th grade profanity when their mom isn't watching.

Here's a thought on how to make the game a bit more of a game and not a chat room for greifers to troll.

Let me turn chat off in a PuG match.

I run my tanks in PuG matches to see what I can do in them, push the envelope, learn what I can get away with
ie: can I run across an open field under fire to reach that cover or will I take too many hits
..you know .. fun stuff. Training. Recon. For Clan Wars.

Truly there isn't anything anyone has to say that I am interested in hearing in a PuG match.
..I am focused on manuevering and firing. Period.

I am on Teamspeak with my Clan some of whom I have been online gaming with since GEnie BBS days
(ya .. before AOL went live, before Windows, before a lot of these kids knew which end of a fudgecicle to lick on)
Do *you* remember Pong?
I had already done my tour in Southeast Asia (some refer to that particular 'fiasco' as 'Vietnam' altho it covered a lot more than just hangin out in country)
..when Pong came out.

I am *not* here to be called a noob and other names by every child who would not dare to my face.
(that whole accountability thing .. a punch dead in the mouth would fix a lot of what goes on for a fact,
..and for the kiddies a little quality time over my knee would do wonders)

I am *not* there to pad my stats to look 'good' for the stat whores.

Please .. let us who just enjoy blowing stuff up and havin a bit of fun while doin it just turn off the greifers and trolls entirely.

there are mods to remove chat, feel free to use them
secondly, those immature players use pron words, but u can filter them, the censorship option
we cant always say that MM is not drunk, as u may see 5 Types or 4 Bats on one team
(we gotta admit that...sadly)
people should learn to take it easy...
just a game to blow things up and not to get blown up lol

The inherent problem of using a mod is ..every patch .. the mod has to be updated as well.
(obvious I know, but it's a hassle for the 'modder' as well as the 'moddee'

Having to stop during a fight, get out of the game for a moment to put someone on ignore can cost you position or firing opportunity especially during the initial move.

As for being labeled a troll .. interesting to be labeled one when I make a suggestion on how to remove them.

You don't actually have to leave the battle to put someone on ignore. If you hit your CTRL key and right-click on the person's name in the team roster, you will have an option to add them to ignore there as well. It's the same place that you would file a complaint on a player.

I'm astonished that you consider communicating with your team to be padding your stats.

What else is "padding" your stats?  Aiming?  Angling armor?  Taking cover from arty?

If you aren't communicating with your team, you are hurting your team.  Forget stats -- if you aren't communicating, you are just playing badly.

Actually a lot of mods will work multiple patch versions in a row without havint to be updated, im sitll running 7.1 mods just fine, so the excuse of oh i don't want to use a mod because i'll have to update it is bullshit. You care enough to write a rant on the forums but not to take 2 mins to install a mod? Well screw you mate, if you can't be arsed taking the time to use the mod why should we care what you think really?

TL;DR the solution already exists but the OP is too stubborn to use it
