I've been driving the King Tige for a while now and the turret is obviously a weak spot but more cause of the sides and the upgraded turret only adds 85 mm to the front, other then roatating slower they're the same.

Then the long 88 which I loved with the Tiger H isn't the same. The round use to get on target extremely fast but lately it has been slow (I think my ping might have something to do with it but I've read others are having the same problem.) It has trouble penning tanks it should easily, (avg. pen is 203) It bounces of the turrets of the KV-3,KV-5 and KV-4 (Thickest part is 180mm flat on KV-5 and KV-4) which if you do the math, it should pen that a good bit of the time but it just bounces of and when I do manage to pen it I cause very little damage which I would be fine with if I could pen them. Before you say I need to aim better, I have over 250 kills with this gun. I think I know what I'm doing. Then the 105mm has a much slower rate of fire, is less accurate and average pen is less (Only by 3 points) but does 80 more damage.

Before people start yelling about Russian bias, I only put the 3 KV's because I see them more often then other tanks but I have a problem penning the hull of the T29,T32 and T34 all from the front, sometimes from the side of the T34 and sometimes the side of the turret on the T32&T34. (which are gerenerally thick)

I would like to make it clear I am not asking people to pick for me, I'm looking for other's experience with the tank and modules to see which will have a bigger impact.

Turret, it adds rof, and much needed armor to the KT. The stock turret of the KT is very easily penned, and you'll find the 88 is much better on the KT than the short 105. Use the long 105 once you unlock it, but i suggest not mounting the short 105 at all, its a money drain.

I went with the 105. It wasn't so much that I crushed them with it, but when a higher tier is rushing you and you suddenly deal the higher damage the 105 gives over the 88, you can force them to slow down and take cover.

Get the turret first. By using the stock turret, you put a big sign say: "stock tank!!!" on your KT and soon, u will find that everyone are aiming at your turret. the short 105mm doesn't worth it, get it later and even when u get it, keep using long 88mm. Just track them and fall back if u have problems with higher tier tanks

Its not really higher teir tanks I'm having a problem with, its every tank. I bounced 8 shots off the front of a tigers turret at close range. Granted it was the upgraded turret but the long 88 should penn it easy, especially at that range

Turret. More HP, more RoF.

105 is the very same 88, slower loading and with much more expensive shells.

The short/medium 10.5cm does not pen more reliably than the 8.8cm. It also costs a lot more credits/shot, making it hard to earn money.

As other people said, the turret provides armor and also a DPM increase because of better RoF.

Turret by a landslide, the stock KT turret is butter and the short 105 isn't much of an improvement over the long 88.

I went with the short 10.5 first. simply because alot of this game is peekaboo tactics and the long 88's low alpha really hurts it in this regard.

yes the stock turret is extremely annoying, but i found with the short 10,5 i was making more exp on average everytime i won/loss. Within 20-25games of getting the 10,5 i managed to get the turret.

My opinion:

Get the Turret, then get the Short 105 and mount it.  If you are on Prem and do decent in most matches you will never lose money (at least I never did).  The short 105 pen difference is 3mm avg, which if you aim properly (against tiers 9 or higher, you will have to play smarter than you would in Tier 8s), the grind to the long 105 is short.

Before people say I free exp'd to the Long 105 and got all the modules, I only had enough free exp at the time to do the Tracks and Turret.  I grinded with the 88 till the short 105, and found the short 105 enjoyable all the way up to the long 105.  I personally chose to grind through it rather than grind up the Free Exp, felt it would be better for me, I have 185 battles in my KT and I had all the guns researched, Turret, Tracks, and E-75.  I regretted selling it also, the E-75 is fun, but no where near as fun as the KT.

Also, one more recommendation, if you have the free exp once you hit E-75, get the Tracks and Turret, the long 105 is still a great gun at Tier 9 (I ran that all 60k+ to the 128).

Another vote for turret, the extra armor helps alot... stock turret is woefully inadequate.

The short 105 has some serious bouncing issues on shots that the 88 will pen all day long.

With Vents , BiA and a rammer, the 88 will be spitting shells every 6.32 seconds... which is usually a decent deterrant from people rushing you.
(Unless they are confident they'll kill ya first)

I'd have to say the turret. To be honest with you, the short 105mm has a lower velocity, and as such, the rounds won't reach the target as fast as the 88mm does. It eats credits much more than the 122 shells do on the RU tanks. I have only had experience in the Jagdpanther with the short 105mm, and I switched back to the 88 ASAP. The 105mm just seems to be awful in comparison. The turret is a must!

Go with the Turret, short 105 is a terrible gun on the KT. I used the long 88 until i had long 105 unlocked.

Turret.

The stock turret can be penned by a JagdPz4...and you wouldn't want that happening to you.

Turret and the 88mmL71 until you have the 105mmL62. The short 105 is neither a derp gun or a decent sniping gun. As a previous poster has said the 88L71 with rammer etc spits rounds out every 6(ish) seconds. With careful use you can immobilise a tank thats rushing you and shoot him to death before he can repair. I've use that to knock out a full HP T28 who had (bad) support from a KV-1S, the 88 is quick enough.... i knocked out both tracks on the T28 to stop him turning then alternated shooting him or his tracks until he was out of the game. The KV had a mini derp and kept trying to pop me but angling my armour and snapping a shot at him kept him out of the fight as well. The long 88 is good against a team with a lot of med's as your higher rof than the 105mm(short) can keep effective damage on them from range.

When you get the 105mmL62 you really do need to fit it, it does cost a lot more per round but facing more tier 9 and 10 tanks it will make the difference vs the 88mmL71.

Get the turret. The short 105 has the same penetration and much higher cost per damage then the 88.
